According to recent reports, the widow of Corey Comperatore, the Trump supporter killed during the assassination attempt against the former president over the weekend, has denied a phone call from President Biden, claiming she “didn’t want to talk to him.” Helen Comperatore cited her family’s Republican political leanings, suggesting that her husband would not have wanted her to speak to the president.
Fifty-year-old Corey Comperatore was killed by gunfire at the Butler, Pennsylvania rally when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate former President Trump from the rooftop of a nearby building roughly 100 yards away. While the bullets only grazed Trump’s ear, Comperatore was fatally struck while protecting his family.
“I didn’t talk to Biden,” the widow explained. “I didn’t want to talk to him. My husband was a devout Republican and he would not have wanted me to talk to him.” Helen recounted that Saturday was supposed to be an “exciting day” for the family to go out and support their presumptive presidential candidate of choice.
Corey’s wife recalled when the shots first rang out, that her husband instinctively shouted for the family to “get down,” while throwing his body in front of the family to protect them from the gunfire. Comperatore explained that Trump has not yet reached out to them, but maintained that she did not want to hear from President Biden.
“I don’t have any ill will towards Joe Biden. I’m not one of those people that gets involved in politics,” she explained. “I support Trump. That’s who I’m voting for, but I don’t have ill will towards Biden,” she added. “He didn’t do anything bad to my husband. A 20-year-old despicable kid did.” While Trump may not have reached out to the Comperatore as of now, he made sure to extend his condolences in a Truth Social post.
“I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!” Trump wrote.
In another message the former president maintained that he will charge ahead and not let fear win. Trump added, “Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening. We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness. Our love goes out to the other victims and their families. We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed. In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win. I truly love our Country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin.”
