Convicted Killer of Little 6-Year-Old Boy Released from Prison after Serving Less than Half of His 20 Year Sentence

In a heartbreaking miscarriage of justice, Ronald Exantus, 42, who was convicted of second-degree assault in the 2015 stabbing death of 6-year-old Logan Tipton in Versailles, Kentucky, has been released on parole. Exantus broke into the family’s home and assaulted Logan’s father, Dean, and sisters during his rampage.

For context, the killer was released on October 1, 2025, after serving about 7-8 years of a 20-year sentence due to good behavior. While he was initially found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity, he is currently under supervision until 2026.

Reacting to the news that Exantus was free, Dean Tipton, the slain boy’s father, gave a stark warning. “If I ever cross paths with him, I will kill the man. I will kill him where he stands,” he said before describing how he felt after the death of his son, noting,. “I laid in bed. I gave up. I gave up on life. I gave up on my family. I gave up on everybody. I just wanted to die.”

Reacting to the horrific details of the case, conservative icon Matt Walsh took to social media to air his grievances. “The case of the child killer who was paroled and released from prison is even more insane than you think. My team reached out to the parole board last night,” Walsh began.

Adding more context, he noted, “We were told by their spokeswoman that under Kentucky law Logan’s killer, Ronald Exantus, is considered a “non-violent offender.” He stabbed a child to death and then went on to assault the entire family and yet he is “non-violent” under the law because he was only convicted of second degree assault.”

Coming to a troubling conclusion, Walsh explained how this was able to happen. “The murder didn’t count at all because he was “not guilty by reason of insanity.” That’s what we were told. Apparently Ronald Exantus “non-violently” stabbed a child to death and then stabbed the rest of the family after breaking into their home. If you think our criminal justice system is completely and totally broken, you don’t even know the half of it. It is so much worse than you think,” he declared.

Still not done, Walsh dug into the details, saying, “From what I can tell, this claim is true. Under the law in the state, you can stab someone and still not qualify as a ‘violent offender.” But this does not get the parole board off the hook, in my view.”

Turning his scorn on the lawmakers who allowed this to happen, he kept going. “All it does is also implicate every single legislator in Kentucky who either had a hand in passing these laws or who failed to change the laws. The rot runs deep. We need massive criminal justice reform across the country. The kind of reform that keeps violent criminals in prison. Not the kind that dumps them back out on the street,” the famous conservative stated.
