Conservatives Loved New “Non-Woke” Ad from American Auto Company

With most advertising moving about as far to the left as the sort of content produced by Disney and other far-left entertainment companies, it’s always a good day for conservatives when an ad comes around that, whatever its other faults or the faults of the company running it, at least isn’t that far to the left.

Such was the case with a recent ad from Chevrolet about the importance of family (and Chevrolet) in which a young girl helps her elderly grandmother, who is struggling with dementia, reconnect to her past, happy memories during Christmas. Though they say “happy holidays” rather than “Merry Christmas” at the end, the ad is otherwise non-woke and was quite liked by conservatives.

Conservative X (formerly Twitter) commentator and Turning Point USA personality Benny Johnson, for example, noted both that the ad lacks the typical political messaging and is heartwarming, saying, “Chevrolet drops first non-woke, heart-warming ad of the Christmas season. You will not make it through this with a dry eye. Be prepared to cry.❤️”

Responding to Benny, others joined in with praise and said things like “Traditional family values warms the heart and brings people together. Who would have thought” and “I had a brother and cousin that died before the age of 70 of dementia. This commercial is very emotional this time at Christmas. NEVER forget to tell your family you love them.”

He was far from the only one. Another conservative X personality said, “Chevrolet did it right and dropped a heart Warming Non-Woke Tear Jerker Ad for the Holidays. Do yourself a favor and take 5 minutes to watch this. I’m a grown man and this made me stupid allergies 🤧 🤧”

Replying, people said things like, “Beautiful Chevy commercial. I wish that this country could go back to what it used to be” and “Saw this the other day. Cry everytime. Lost my mom in Feb – she had dementia/Alzheimer’s. We would take her for rides and talk about old times.. it always seemed to makes thing better for a short time 💞”

Still another conservative on X said, “Can’t believe @Chevrolet finally made a non-woke ad. Great ad. They must be waking up to the fact that most Americans are fans of traditional #Christmas family values. #Advertising”

People without specified political affiliations loved it as well. One, for example, said, “Tears are streaming down my face. I can’t remember any other “commercial” that affected me like this one did. I was smiling and crying, at the same time. Thank you for sharing this. Merry Christmas👏👏”

Speaking about the advertisement to Ad Age, Steve Majoros, the head of marketing for Chevrolet, said, “We talked a lot about reminiscence therapy – not that it’s a cure or a solve, but the power of music, the power of memories are things that can enable the person going through it to feel more comfortable. And the people that are the caregivers that are surrounding them, to also feel more comfortable.”
