Recently, the One Million Moms organization started a petition to “say no” to the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The conservative Christian group has gained nearly 40,000 signatures pledging to boycott the “non-binary and transgender extravaganza.”
“The non-binary and transgender extravaganza on display this Thanksgiving will be brought to you by Macy’s during their annually sponsored Thanksgiving Day Parade. Unless they are forewarned about it, this year’s holiday parade will potentially expose tens of millions of viewers at home to the liberal LGBTQ agenda,” the petition read.
One Million Moms calls out performances scheduled in the parade this year from transgender and non-binary identifying individuals. Justin David Sullivan, a “non-binary” Broadway actor, will be featured in a performance of “& Juliet.” The musical is a reimagined spinoff of the Shakespeare classic “Romeo & Juliet” if Juliet had never committed suicide. In the musical, Sullivan plays the role of “May,” who is a “non-binary” friend of Juliet.
Sullivan has been known for political statements regarding the transgender movement, where the actor abstained from participating in the Tony Awards this year because of the male and female gender categories.
“I felt I had no choice but to abstain from being considered for a nomination this season,” Sullivan said in a statement. “I hope that award shows across the industry will expand their reach to be able to honor and award people of all gender identities.”
Furthermore, the Macy’s Day parade will also feature a performance from the musical “Shucked,” which features Alex Newell, a biological male who identifies as “non-binary.” Newell reportedly goes by all pronouns and has been known to wear women’s clothes when making public appearances.
“Thanksgiving Day, this liberal nonsense will be broadcast live from New York on NBC, starting at 8:30 a.m. Eastern,” the petition continued. One Million Moms also pointed out that this isn’t the first year the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has engaged in woke antics. For example, in 2021, the parade featured the transgender singer Kim Petras.
“This isn’t the first time the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade featured gender non-conforming performers. In 2021, transgender pop star Kim Petras performed during the parade, becoming the first transgender celebrity to perform during this once family-friendly holiday tradition,” the Christian group wrote.
Ultimately, One Million Moms concluded that to protect children’s interests, parents should sign their pledge to inform Macy’s that they “are not buying what they are selling.”
“Shame on Macy’s for promoting and sponsoring this type of entertainment. We still cannot trust Macy’s Dept. Store. It is clear that Macy’s does not have our children’s best interests in mind. Macy’s needs to know that trust must be earned, and once trust is lost, it is difficult to get back,” the group stated.
According to One Million Moms’ website, “Our goal is to stop the exploitation of our children, especially by the entertainment media (TV, music, movies, etc.). Mom, OneMillionMoms.com is the most powerful tool you have to stand against the immorality, violence, vulgarity and profanity the entertainment media is throwing at your children. It is time to fight back!”
