Eric Schmitt (R-MO) expressed his confidence that Donald Trump will be vindicated in legal battles over his strong border security agenda. While the Trump administration has been mired in lawfare, Schmitt believes that the Supreme Court will support moves such as invoking the Alien Enemies Act to deport firing gangsters.
For context, Schmitt is a conservative stalwart known for criticizing federal overreach and strong advocacy for conservative policies. The senator, who made headlines for being the first Catholic Republican elected to the Senate from Missouri, has a strong track record of supporting the president and fighting against illegal immigration.
Starting off his Mar 23, 2025, remarks, the Republican predicted that resident Donald Trump will succeed in the legal battles with activist judges who seek to halt his agenda. he contrasted Trump’s actions with Biden, whom he slammed for “overstepping” his constitutional authority.
Confidentially describing the situation, Sen. Schitt said, “So the president’s operating well within his authority. I think as these cases make their way through the appellate courts, and ultimately the Supreme Court, he’ll be vindicated and be able to deliver on the promises he made to the American people.”
This is far from Schmitt’s only public statement on immigration. On May 19, 2025, he took to X to announce a major victory for the Trump administration. The conservative senator posted, “🚨 The Supreme Court just gave President Trump the green light to end Temporary Protected Status for 350,000 illegal aliens from Venezuela. Now, the deportations can begin. This is a major win for the President’s immigration agenda.”
Continuing he thread, he added, “TPS was designed to be a narrow, short-term humanitarian protection for immigrants in the U.S. during a temporary disaster in their home country. But like many of these “temporary” programs, the Left has used it as a backdoor to permanent residency—a de facto amnesty.”
Explain how the Democrats took advantage of this program, the Republican posted, “Biden quadrupled the TPS population, from 410,000 in 2020 to over 1.4 million aliens by 2025. Hundreds of thousands who arrived illegally during the border crisis were made ‘legal’ with a stroke of Biden’s (auto)pen. The majority of TPS recipients were from Venezuela and Haiti.”

Describing the response from the Trump Admin he stated, “The Trump administration filed an application for a stay of that injunction with the United States Supreme Court, arguing the district judge’s order “contravenes fundamentally executive branch prerogatives” and that Congress precluded judicial review of the TPS determination.”
Describing the results of the case, he said, “SCOTUS agreed. The INA contains many sections in which Congress precludes judicial review of an executive decisions. TPS is one. The courts are bound to follow this Congressional decision. Under Article III, Congress has plenary power over the jurisdiction of inferior courts.”
Concluding his posts and explaining the significance of the victory, Sen Schmitt wrote, “All of this is worth celebrating. This is a major step forward in the fight for mass deportations—and restoring sanity to our immigration system. It’s a victory for President Trump and for the America First agenda.
