According to comedian Tim Young, the latest attempts to hide Jason Aldean’s new, anti-rioting song, “Try That In a Small Town,” aren’t good faith efforts to deal with a sensitive issue, but are a cancel culture attack on a conservative entertainer because of his outspoken conservative beliefs.
Making that point to Fox News Digital, Young said that it is ridiculous the left will openly sing and admire songs about violence, gang activity, and the use of illegal narcotics, yet then turn around and attack a song that is in defense of law and order, saying, “It’s interesting how the left will cancel a song about how crime isn’t welcome in a town, yet push songs that glorify drugs, violence and sex.”
Continuing, Young added that the current attack on Aldean is an example of “cancel culture,” but it is going poorly because conservative consumers have finally woken up to the culture war situation and are more willing to support things on their side even if the mainstream is attacking them.
Speaking about that and explaining why this time is different, Young said, “Aldean is a victim of cancel culture, but as we’ve seen recently, conservatives have finally learned how to be heard with their money and how they spend it.”
Young then added that this cancel culture attempt won’t only fail, but will backfire and lead to far more success for Aldean than he would have gotten without the left’s rapid attacks on his music. Making that point, he said, “I expect his canceling to have the complete opposite effect, where he will make more money and sell more tickets, and be heard by even more people because the left tried to cancel him.”
Young also retweeted a video about what is really going on with the anti-Aldean attack. That tweet was captioned, “NEWS: The woke left is trying to cancel Jason Aldean’s new song “Try That in a Small Town”. The song represents a MAJORITY of Americans. Weak leaders cave to woke activists with nothing better to do than complain. Stand strong against this nonsense. Stand with Jason 🇺🇸”

Young wasn’t the only one to tell Fox News Digital that the latest cancel culture attempt would end very poorly for those behind it. Will Hind, the executive director of Consumers’ Research, said that CMT made a big mistake in putting the delusions of a few woke people ahead of the people who actually listen to country music.
Making that point, Hild said, “CMT has put woke activists ahead of their own viewers by pulling Jason Aldean’s music video off of its platform. This is another blatant attempt by the cancel culture mob to silence viewpoints other than their own, a clear attack on America’s first freedom, the freedom of speech.”
Continuing, Hild told Fox News Digital that companies need to refocus and put their focus on appealing to those who enjoy their products, not appeasing a few woke people, saying, “This kind of behavior from companies is why Consumers’ Research created Woke Alerts, so consumers would be able to easily see which companies are pushing woke ideology in their business practices. These companies need to focus on their consumers, not woke politicians.”
