Recently, a woke CNN guest made an utterly ridiculous comparison during an appearance on “CNN Tonight.” CNN law enforcement analyst and former Washington D.C. Metropolitan police officer Michael Fanone likened former President Donald Trump to deceased terrorist Osama Bid Laden for “horrible acts” they both committed against Americans.
Fanone was speaking about the recent indictment of Donald Trump, where he claimed to have felt as proud to be an American as he did when he learned of the death of Bin Laden. “When I first learned about the indictment, I had a long conversation with a friend of mine, Ryan Reilly, and I told him how proud I felt to be an American at that moment. Much in the way that I did when I learned that our military had killed Osama bin Laden. I just felt incredibly proud,” he stated.
Chief Legal Analyst at CNN inquired if Fanone found the two figures comparable, probing Fanone to explain why. “These two seem comparable to you?” Coates asked. “I’m sorry, I don’t want to cut you off, but why that comparison in particular?” Fanone responded that he believed Trump and Bin Laden were similar in his mind.
The law enforcement analyst explained his reasoning for the assertion, claiming that Trump committed “horrific acts” against American citizens worthy of comparison to the evil acts of Osama Bin Laden. For perspective, Bin Laden is credited as the founder of Al-Qaeda, the terrorist organization responsible for the September 11 attacks in 2001 that killed thousands of Americans. The terrorist group is also responsible for many other mass casualty attacks worldwide.
When prompted by Coates, Fanone stated, “Absolutely. Osama bin Laden was a terrorist who committed a horrific act against American people and against our republic. And I believe that Donald Trump is a terrorist who committed horrific acts against the American people.”
Even Coates, a host on a woke network such as CNN that is known for its leftist stance, seemingly realized the absurdity of Fanone’s comparison. “You can imagine that is a very eyebrow raising statement to say the least, the notion of Osama bin Laden and the comparison to Donald Trump. It likely speaks to just how deeply you have been concerned and have felt about all of this. But are you concerned that statements like that, or the rhetoric surrounding what his role has been is going to cloud people’s view of this indictment as a fair process?” she said.
Fanone hit back, alleging that the only important views are those of the jurors involved in making a decision on the charges brought about by Jack Smith and the Department of Justice. “I think that the only person or people whose view matters with regards to this indictment are the jurors who will eventually be sat and listen to the facts, and ultimately make a judgment as to whether or not Donald Trump is guilty of the charges that Jack Smith and the Department of Justice have brought forward,” Fanone stated.
You know it’s an absurd take when even a CNN host takes a step back and calls your statement “eyebrow raising.” Perhaps examples like this could play a factor in CNN’s dismal ratings that fall far behind other mainstream networks. See a clip of the interview below.
