North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson (R-NC) recently outlined the retaliatory actions he intends to take against CNN after the left-leaning news outlet leaked alleged posts he had made on a pornographic website years ago. According to recent comments from Robinson, he intends to threaten CNN with legal action over the report he previously described as “tabloid trash.”
During a recent engagement with the press, Robison maintained that he fully intends to continue his Republican candidacy in the gubernatorial race. He expressed “full confidence” in his candidacy, noting that his campaign is receiving substantial support from “talented people” who have a vested interest in seeing him win despite the controversy.
The lieutenant governor said, “We have full confidence so we can go on. We’re getting resumes from all over. We’re getting offers from all over, people and jumping in to help us. We’ve made a ton of friends in this thing since we’ve been in. A lot of talented people right now are reaching out to us, and we’re right in the process right now, a formative team that we know can still lead us to victory. So we have full confidence in our ability, but the timing of that them walking away from you right now, the timing doesn’t matter.”
Robinson maintained that the timing of the controversial CNN story is irrelevant, emphasizing that it’s all about his reaction to it. “It’s not it’s not the timing. It’s how you react, and we are ready to react, and we’re doing it right now. We’re getting it done,” he told the press. He was then asked by a reporter about what steps he is taken to prove the reports are “salacious lies” as he has claimed.
“We’re, we have we’re in talks right now.” Robinson said, hinting at potential legal action against the network. “Everything up to legal counsel to take CNN to task for what they have done to us. We are, we are going after, okay, we are going after them for what they’ve done.” Robinson maintained that he will not let the controversy throw him off of his mission to win the gubernatorial race.
“But we have five weeks left in this race, folks, and make no mistake about it, we are not going to let CNN throw us off of our mission. Our mission is to win this life. And quite frankly, I am dismayed about the fact, as I said before, think about how many people out there right now, right in this place where we are right now, who are hooked on fentanyl, who are hooked on on opioids, and how many will die tonight because of think about what’s going on on our border,” the aspiring governor said.
Continuing to emphasize the issues that are important, Robinson said, “Think about what’s going on on the world stage, and this is what you this is what you choose to focus on. You’ve got these news cameras, news reporters, pens, pencils, your microphones. This is what you’re focused on. You’re not focused on the things that we talked about standing out there, about our economy. You’re not focused on those things, I am I’m gonna remain focused on those things, and you better, you better understand and in order to put the people first, in order to put the people first, we’ve got to concentrate on this campaign.”
