Ratings are showing how Americans really feel right now, and it’s not looking pretty for the left’s main propaganda outlet, CNN. That “news” channel suffered a crushing loss of primetime viewers during the week of February 27, while former President Donald Trump experienced huge jumps in his poll numbers and ratings thanks to his fantastic speech at CPAC.
According to a recent Adweek report, things look particularly bleak for CNN, which lost 71 percent of its total prime-time viewers. Yet worse for the network is that it crashed by a shocking 83 percent among viewers aged 25 to 54 in primetime viewership. That is is the key demographic that advertisers want to see. By losing 83 percent of it in primetime, CNN is on very rocky shoals.
And it’s not just CNN that’s experiencing major difficulties. The Washington Post, which former President Trump nicknamed “The Washington Compost,” has lost over 500,000 subscribers since Trump left office. That’s a nearly 20% decline in just two years, as the paper’s subscriber count dropped from 3 million in 2021 to 2.5 million now.
Meanwhile, Trump is once again ascendant, this time thanks to a speech he gave at CPAC. That speech, unsurprisingly, drew a much larger crowd than his competitors and blew other cable news ratings out of the water.
According to a “Cable News Rankings” report, Fox News Channel’s coverage of Trump’s speech at CPAC topped the ranking with over 1.6 million viewers and Newsmax’s coverage of Trump’s speech also made the ranking with over 600,000 viewers.
The DC Enquirer, adding more details on Trump’s domination at CPAC, reported that Trump came in far ahead of Ron DeSantis in a straw poll. In its words:
Trump also overflowed the venue of CPAC with a huge crowd of supporters on Saturday that even included the former President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro.
Trump’s CPAC speech was held in the Potomac Ballroom of the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. The ballroom can hold 5,520 people seated. Trump’s audience was packed to the brim and there were even more people watching from outside of the ballroom.
Trump crushed any questions of him not being the leader of the Republican party yet again with a 42-point landslide lead in CPAC’s famous straw poll released on Saturday.
Trump came in first place, of course, with 62 percent. Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) came in second place with 20 percent, 42 points behind Trump.
With polls showing Trump in the lead amongst all potential Republican and Democrat challengers, any potential candidate will have an impossible battle if they attempt to usurp the favorite to win the 2024 nomination.
During his speech, Trump vowed that he would utterly destroy the Deep State if reelected, saying
“In 2016, I declared: I am your voice. Today, I add: I am your warrior. I am your justice. And for those who have been wronged and betrayed: I am your retribution.”
“For seven years you and I have been engaged in an epic struggle to rescue our country from the people who hate it and want to absolutely destroy it. We are going to finish what we started. We started something that was a miracle. We’re going to complete the mission, we’re going to see this battle through to ultimate victory. We’re going to make America great again.”
“With you at my side, we will demolish the deep state. We will expel the war mongers… We will drive out the globalists. We will cast out the communists. We will throw off the political class that hates our country … We will beat the Democrats. We will rout the fake news media. We will expose and appropriately deal with the Rinos [Republicans in name only]. We will evict Joe Biden from the White House. And we will liberate America from these villains and scoundrels once and for all.”
