The American citizens who live in the struggling town of Springfield, Ohio, are massively cheering the news that the Supreme Court has allowed President Donald Trump to cancel the quasi-amnesty Temporary Protected Status (TPS) that has been granted to the Haitians for years, and was used to bring many Haitian migrants to the town.
In fact, Springfield garnered notoriety in the run-up to the 2024 election because of the massive number of Haitian migrants in the town who were there despite strong opposition from the locals, particularly given rumors of missing pets and local business owners using the Haitian migrants to drive down wages.
Now-VP JD Vance, posting about the matter in 2024 as it garnered national notoriety, said, “Months ago, I raised the issue of Haitian illegal immigrants draining social services and generally causing chaos all over Springfield, Ohio. Reports now show that people have had their pets abducted and eaten by people who shouldn’t be in this country. Where is our border czar?”
So, residents of the town have been celebrating the news that the Supreme Court has greenlit the Trump Administration’s policy change regarding the Haitian migrants, doing so, as Breitbart News reported, in a Facebook group organized to help oppose migration, with the group being called Stop the Influx into Springfield, Ohio.
One such message celebrating the ruling, Breitbart News reported before the group went private, said, “Yes!! Supreme Court allowing deportation of Haitians to continue!!!” Another member of the group reportedly wrote, “When is the farewell party? this is an occasion for celebration.”
“Yes it is, we have all been thru hell,” responded another, commenting on the “farewell party” remark. Still another said, “Pack them bags!! BYE BYE.” Yet another commenter in the group said, “I’m so happy right now I can’t stand it. Get them all the hell out of here. [Mayor] Rob Rue you POS you lost.”
Springfield Pastor Carl Ruby, on the other hand, denouncing the Supreme Court ruling in a statement, said, “Today’s decision is painful. But our calling has not changed. Scripture teaches us to stand with the vulnerable, tell the truth about our neighbors, and refuse to let fear have the final word. Haitian families belong in our community, and we will continue to stand beside them with courage, compassion, and conviction.”

Similarly, an angry leftist on X wrote, “HEARTBREAKING, terrible decision that defies common sense. The administration simply broke the law in the way it terminated TPS — showing animus & not following any advisory process. Now hundreds of thousands of people who have lived here for decades lives at in chaos….”
In the Supreme Court ruling, Justice Alito, who wrote the majority opinion for the court, said, “Congress created TPS in 1990 to provide short-term humanitarian relief for aliens who cannot safely return to their home countries.” Justice Alito added, “Although designed to afford temporary relief, TPS designations in practice have often lasted for decades.”
Justice Kagan angrily denounced the majority ruling in her dissent, declaring, “The evidence [the Haitian plaintiffs] have offered includes statements by the President so repellent and racially inflected that the majority declines to put them in print.”
