Former bassist of the Christian rock band Third Day, Tai Anderson, recently announced that he had lost his son, Eli, just five years after his daughter had taken her own life. The faith-oriented rock band posted a message of support on Instagram.
Third Day shared on social media, “Our brother, Tai Anderson, has tragically lost his beloved son, Eli. We are all heartbroken. Please keep his family in your prayers. If you’d like to contribute, a gofundme has been set up in Eli’s name to help cover the extensive medical bills, memorial costs and ongoing family grief support.”
Anderson posted a message on Facebook, thanking his former band members for their support where the news comes after his daughter Mackenzie committed suicide in 2018. “Guys, it’s not easy to ask for help,” Anderson said. “Thank you to my brothers from Third Day for sharing this opportunity to support my family as we walk again in the valley of the shadow of death.”
Tai added that he would undoubtedly require significant support in the aftermath of his loss. “We are all going to need a lot of spiritual and psychological support in the wake of losing our precious Eli. I would be forever grateful to any of you who can help support us in our hour of desperation,” he said.
In the aftermath of Eli’s death, Anderon’s family set up a GoFundMe page to support the family. The fundraiser noted that the musician’s son, who had a loving and joyous personality, had “succumbed” to the disease of addiction.
In recent years, drug overdoses have skyrocketed as fentanyl continues to pour into the country. Particularly in the past decade, fentanyl-laced drugs have claimed the lives of countless American youth. However, reports have not come out as to which drug led to Anderson’s death.
