“Caved”: Christian Author Celebrates Massive Win against Woke Libraries That Denied Story Hour Slot

Kirk Cameron is a well-known actor, author, and producer known for his Christian worldview and faith-inspired books. He just came out with a new book, As You Grow, which is an illustrated children’s book that is part of a series celebrating positive, biblical virtues like kindness, joy, patience, and compassion. That book is published by a company called Brave Book and is part of Brave Book’s book subscription lineup.

Cameron, however, was at first not allowed to promote the book at two woke, public libraries, one in Indianapolis and the other in New York City. The libraries refused to grant Cameron a story time slot in which he could read the book to children to promote it. The libraries had previously held similar, albeit leftist, events like drag queen story hour.

The libraries eventually backed down after Cameron threatened to take them to court over the matter, as Fox News Digital reported, saying:

In comments to Fox News Digital over the weekend, actor and writer Kirk Cameron declared that he has “won” against two public libraries in this country that previously denied him the space and opportunity to hold a children’s book story hour program in their facilities — and that now are offering to work with him on room bookings after he challenged their denials and threatened to “assert” his “rights in court.”

In short, “they caved,” his publisher told Fox News Digital this weekend.

Fox News Digital was shown the email exchanges between him and the two libraries as proof of the forward progress, as well as the details of the room bookings for later this month at the libraries.

Commenting on the two libraries, the Indianapolis Public Library and the Scarsdale Public Library backing down, Cameron told Fox News Digital “I’m happy that the two libraries changed their decision and will allow my voice to be heard and my book to be read.”

He added that “I hope they realized that their position of denying me a story hour reading was not only unfair and illegal, but that we would all be better off if we listened to each other’s perspectives.” Continuing, Cameron then said that he hopes “children from Indianapolis and Scarsdale can learn something about biblical wisdom and the fruits of the Spirit from ‘As You Grow.’”

Trent Talbot, the CEO of Brave Books, spoke to Fox News Digital about the incident as well. Talbot said “I love situations in which we have two ways to win and zero ways to lose. We forced these bullies to either take off their masks and show their true colors of unabashed anti-Christian and anti-American bias (as well as catch themselves in a spicy lawsuit) OR the bullies were going to realize that Kirk and Brave were here to fight and they would back down.” This time the bullies backed down, fortunately.

Cameron will now appear at the Indianapolis Public Library on the 29th of December and the Scarsdale Public Library on the 30th of December.
