Siaka Massaquoi is an actor and Christian who was arrested over his presence at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. The First Vice Chair of the Los Angeles County Republican Party, Massaquoi was arrested on November 30, 2023 by FBI agents when he landed in Hollywood’s Burbank Airport when returning from Nashville.
He was returning from a premier of the Daily Wire’s new “Lady Ballers,” in which he acts, when arrested. The arrest followed years after the FBI raided his home in June of 2021 over his presence at the Capitol on Jan. 6, and he was charged with four misdemeanors over his involvement, including trespassing, disorderly conduct, and parading or demonstrating in a Capitol building.
Massaquoi was only in jail for one night, being released on bond on December 1 after his November 30th arrest, but he says that it is his Christian faith that helped him make it through that experience and come out the other side alright.
Speaking to the Christian Post about his faith and how it impacted his arrest, Massaquoi said that he recited the Lord’s Prayer while in his cell and managed to discuss faith in Christ with the FBI agents who arrested him. Further, when he appeared in court the next day, he said that more than a dozen of his friends, including his pastor, were there to support him.
Further, Massaquoi said that the dark and dire events of recent years have pushed him closer to the Lord. Those events have “pushed me closer to the Word specifically; not just to God, but to the Word itself, so I can hear and see what He’s about,” he said.
And it wasn’t just faith he discussed. Massaquoi also tore into the legal effort being waged against him, saying, “It smells like a persecution.” He added, “I’ve been getting searched at the airport every single time I fly — not once at TSA, but twice at TSA and the gate. They track me. They know my phone calls. They know all this stuff for two years, and then they come and they pull me off the tarmac away from my wife. What else could it be [but political persecution]?”
Continuing, he added, “I’m not a violent person. I’ve never been a violent person. I’m not a criminal and have never been charged with a bunch of crimes. But they moved on me in such a way that you would have thought that I was an infamous drug runner. You would have thought that I trafficked children.”
Seeing the bright lining in all of that darkness, he added that the events have opened people’s eyes to what is going on in America, saying, “It sucks, the things that have happened, but I don’t regret it because I’m looking at it and seeing everything [else] that’s happened, what it’s done. There are people in my life, my mom included, where it’s opened their eyes to a lot of what the Democratic Party is about. And that’s a good thing.”
Daily Wire CEO Jeremy Boering, for his part, posted on X about the situation, saying, “Siaka is a good man and a huge talent. The FBI arresting a man at the airport three years after the event – and after raiding his house and not charging him already – and then only charging him with misdemeanors is one of the most absurd things I’ve ever heard.”
A GiveSendGo created to help pay for Massaquoi’s legal bills says, “We need your financial support and prayers! On Thursday, November 30th, Siaka Massaquoi and his pregnant wife, Charlotte, were headed home on a flight returning from the The Daily Wire’s Lady Ballers movie premier in Nashville, Tennessee. Upon their arrival, Siaka was separated from his wife and abruptly arrested by the FBI. At the time, Charlotte was told the charges had to do with January 6th; however, she was not presented with any arrest warrant. Siaka was taken to Monterey Park Jail where he stayed overnight and was told that he was being charged for four misdemeanors pertaining to his presence outside of the Capital Building in Washington, D.C. on January 6th. Siaka and his family are God fearing citizens. They have served their community through various avenues, and Siaka is currently the LAGOP Vice Chairman. His wife serves as a volunteer Faith Group Leader for TPUSA Faith – San Fernando Valley Hub and as the Church Coordinator for TPUSA Faith at Godspeak. She has been a tremendous support to him and is now expecting their first child in March of 2024. Since the FBI raid on his home nearly three years ago, they have feared that this day might come, in which the government would charge him for something he didn’t do. He has been scrutinized at airports for several years but has never been formally charged for anything. This family has been through so many ups and downs, a circus would be a more appropriate term for the turmoil and unnecessary display of government overreach that they have had to endure. If you are willing and able, we are asking for financial support to assist with possible bail and upcoming legal defense fees, which will be very costly. At the very least, please continue to keep Siaka, Charlotte, and Baby Massaquoi in prayer as they press on through this challenging circumstance.”
