Speaking during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “The Will Cain Show”, Gracie Hunt, the daughter of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, praised Erika Kirk, the present head of Turning Point USA and widow of Charlie Kirk, for setting up an alternative halftime show to reject the one planned by the NFL with infamous performer Bad Bunny.
As background, the NFL announced this fall that “Bad Bunny,” a Puerto Rican singer known for singing in Spanish and for his repeated verbal attacks against both President Trump and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, would be the halftime performer at this season’s Super Bowl halftime show.
In response to that and the backlash generated by the infuriating news, Erika Kirk and TPUSA decided to plan their own Super Bowl halftime show so that Americans have a patriotic alternative to watch during the big game. It was that idea that Hunt praised during her appearance on FNC.
Doing so, Hunt pointed to the need for directing impressionable young people toward positive entertainment rather than something so awful and unpatriotic, saying, “I really respect Erika for all that she’s done, especially with creating a halftime show for America. You know, children are young, they’re impressionable. Young women, young men and everyone, they just need someone to look up to.”
Continuing, Hunt explained to Will Cain that she thinks Erika Kirk has so far done an incredible job leading Turning Point, and has done a great thing here in creating an alternative to the Bad Bunny performance that is much more positive and connected to the NFL’s “heart” of “family”.
She said, on that point, “As someone who doesn’t yet have young children of my own, I can’t imagine how difficult that is to navigate. But I think she’s done an incredible job leading Turning Point, leading young women and really leading an alternative for young Americans. Football’s becoming the world sport, but, at its heart, it’s America’s sport built around family.”
Connecting her family to the event and using that as a way of celebrating what Erika and Turning Point are doing, Hunt then said, “When my grandfather named the Super Bowl, he intended it to be something children and families of all ages could come together and watch and really believed that the game should come first, that football is the attraction and that it didn’t need to compromise its character or rely on cheap appeal to draw an audience, especially when that approach can alienate so much of the fan base.”

Concluding, she explained that the NFL needs to start reflecting the values America wants to see in it, and that the singer they chose for this year’s performance definitely does not. She said, “The NFL honors women, the military, this country, celebrates communities. So, I think that whoever they select going forward for the halftime show needs to reflect those values more closely. So, I respect Erika.”
