In yet another big win for American border security and American jobs, the trucking sector was protected and American roadways made safer by a major Border Patrol operation along the Yuma, Arizona Sector of the US-Mexico border that targeted commercial truckers and nabbed dozens of illegal alien truckers and over 50 illegal aliens overall.
As background, the Trump Administration has made cracking down on illegal aliens a major initiative, particularly regarding illegal aliens who are involved in the trucking sector. To do so, it has instituted rules regarding all CDL holders being able to speak English, and has used those rules to crack down on the illegal alien truckers in a massive way.
Such led ot Operation Checkmate, the massive operation that led to dozens of such truckers being taken down by ICE. The Department of Homeland Security announced, “During the week of May 11-15, U.S. Border Patrol agents from Yuma Sector arrested 52 individuals during Operation Checkmate for being in the U.S. illegally, of which 36 were driving semi-trucks.”
Continuing, the press release explained what the goal of the operation was, noting, “Operation Checkmate enhances public safety through enforcement of immigration statutes aimed at the detection and arrest of illegal aliens operating commercial motor vehicles.”
Adding to that, the press release noted that blue states have been giving out CDLs to illegal aliens, saying, “Of the 36 illegal alien semi-truck drivers arrested, 29 were in possession of commercial driver’s licenses from states such as: California, New York, Washington, and Virginia. Three did not possess any form of driver’s license.”
Then, adding yet further to that to explain where the illegal aliens who had been caught were from, the press release from the DHS explained that the vast majority were from India. It said, “Thirty of the individuals were from India, while the remaining six were from Mexico, El Salvador, and Russia.”
Still not done, it noted how the Biden Administration made the situation happen, saying, “Most subjects possessed Employment Authorization Documents, which were obtained during the Biden administration and are no longer valid. All individuals were processed in accordance with federal law and will be deported.”

Acting Chief Patrol Agent of the U.S. Border Patrol’s Yuma Sector Dustin W. Caudle, commenting on the situation, said, “Operation Checkmate reflects our commitment to safeguarding communities and roads from unlawfully present drivers who pose significant risks to public safety.”
Continuing, Caudle explained that his agents will continue cracking down in much the same fashion, saying, “My agents are on patrol every day to ensure we stop these individuals and prevent more deadly crashes from occurring on the road across the United States.”
Concluding, DHS said, “Thanks to the leadership of President Donald J. Trump, the Department of Transportation issued a final rule to stop unqualified foreign drivers from obtaining licenses to drive commercial trucks and buses. The Border Patrol is working together with federal partners to enforce the rule of law and restore integrity and safety to the nation’s transportation system. This will eliminate another magnet for people to illegally come to the U.S., and will strengthen the most secure border in 50 years.”
