Following the recent passing of the legendary musician Jimmy Buffett, love and support poured in from dozens of famous musicians and celebrities who gave their condolences to the family of the “Margaritaville” singer.
The American Tribune reported on Buffet’s death yesterday, writing that the singer had been experiencing health issues since last year. Buffet was quoted saying, “Growing old is not for sissies, I promise you.”
Jimmy Buffet’s Instagram page posted, “Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs. He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many.”
“Jimmy Buffett was a unique and treasured entertainer. His fans adored him and he never let them down. This is the saddest of news. A lovely man gone way too soon,” said legendary musician Elton John. “Condolences to Jane and the family from David and me,” he added.
Mike Love, lead singer and founding member of the Beach Boys, shared a heartfelt message about losing one of the greatest musicians of a generation. Love recounted fond memories he shared with Buffet, including a collage of photos of the two underneath his post on social media.
“Your music brought joy to so many people, including me. It was always a pleasure when our paths crossed and we were able to share the stage together. I will hold dear our time spent together on stage, especially you singing “Kokomo” with us. Your sense of humor and gracious nature was a pleasure to be a round. Although we’ll miss you, we’ll continue to enjoy the beautiful music that you’ve blessed upon us. No more shoes, just your toes in heaven’s sand. Rest in peace Brother Jimmy.”

Next summer will be inevitably difficult for Parrot Heads, the term given to those who religiously followed Buffet for years. It will be the first summer they will have to endure without Buffet around to perform hits such as “Cheeseburger in Paradise” or “Margaritaville.”
As the American Tribune put it, “Jimmy Buffett provided levity and laid-back beach vibes during a very down time in America, the 1970s, and during today’s economically depressed times as well.Jimmy Buffet will be mourned for years, but his music and vibe will live on. Condolences to Buffett’s numerous fans and family.”
