Cameron Diaz’s long reign as one of the most popular actresses in American television and film may soon come to a halt, according to reports from Daily Mail. A source close to the actress said that the star would likely step away from acting after filming concludes on her newest work, a Netflix film titled Back in Action.
According to the source, the constant drama in Hollywood has finally taken its toll on the 50-year-old actress, who will be stepping away from the spotlight to focus on parenting her 3-year-old daughter Raddix. According to Daily Mail’s reporting, the source close to Diaz says that this is the driving factor in her decision. The source said:
“These back-to-back 10-hour workdays have been a lot on her and she hates being away from Raddix. Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world.”
The source went on to add even more information about the actress’s state of mind. From the sounds of things, Diaz’s husband, Benji has also felt stress from the chaotic and frantic nature of the Hollywood schedule. The source said:
“She hates drama and confrontation. This is why she retired from the business in the first place. She has already proven herself in the industry and has nothing left to prove to anyone.”
“Benji is supportive of everything Cameron does, but it has been a lot on him. Although she has gotten to see her family while shooting the film, it is just not the same.”
According to the Daily Mail, much of the issue stems from Jamie Foxx, who threw a tantrum leading to multiple people being fired on set. It was Foxx who dragged Diaz out of her short retirement a few years ago, and it may be him who sends her back out of the film industry. Daily Mail wrote:
“The 50-year-old officially retired from her Hollywood career in 2018, before being lured back by her close friend Jamie, 55, to star alongside him in action comedy Back In Action.
“But her comeback project was thrown into turmoil earlier this month, when it was reported that Jamie ‘had an absolute meltdown’ on the UK set of the movie, which led to the firing of three people.”
The source spoke on those issues between Foxx and Diaz, and while they downplayed the severity, it is clear that something is causing tension. The source did, however, say that they are certain that there is not a massive issue between Diaz and Foxx and that the firings were not taken as an offense by the actress:
“When you are in a position of authority, sometimes you have to make decisions to let people go who do not share the same vision as you.”
“Cameron is a businessperson and understands that this is necessary at times and, honestly, Jamie is the only reason that she is doing this film and they are still very close.”
