Ohio’s Democratic Attorney General candidate, Elliot Forhan, is facing predictably severe online backlash after releasing a video online in which he imprudently threatened to “kill” President Donald Trump, with many of those who saw the clip, which went viral, calling for Forhan to face prosecution over his threats to the president.
As background, while Ohio is generally a deep red state and thus usually someone like Forhan would have no chance of coming close to state-level power, many in MAGA fear that Vivek Ramaswamy is a very weak Republican candidate given his staunch defense of the H-1B visa, and could cost Republicans the gubernatorial election. As the AG is elected in the same election, there is thus a chance that the radical Democrat AG candidate could enter power, making his threats all the more real.
In any case, in the video he posted, AG candidate Forhan threatened to kill the duly elected president of the United States, something that should, at the very least, lead to his being investigated. He began, “I want to tell you what I mean when I say that I am going to kill Donald Trump.”
Adding to that, he tried to squirm out of investigation by insisting he only wanted it to happen after a trial, saying, “I am going to obtain conviction, rendered by a jury of his peers, at a standard of proof beyond reasonable doubt, based on evidence, presented at trial, conducted in accordance with due process, resulting in a sentence, duly executed, of capital punishment.”
Concluding, AG candidate Forhan insisted that he really does want to “kill” the president, and aims to score such a verdict that would allow the president’s execution, and that he totally means what he says about the matter. He said, “That is what I mean when I say I am going to kill Donald Trump.”
Furious conservatives sounded off in the wake of the video going viral. Conservative X poster Eric Daugherty, for example, posting the clip, captioned it by saying, “Americans are demanding the IMMEDIATE ARREST of Ohio Attorney General candidate Elliot Forhan (D) for saying he will KILL DONALD TRUMP through capital punishment. ‘I am going to kill Donald Trump.’ WTF?! Throw him in jail, NOW!”

Also sounding off was Ohio State Treasurer Jay Edwards, who wrote, “As a proud MAGA Republican candidate for Ohio Treasurer, I’m outraged by Democrat Attorney General Candidate Elliot Forhan’s unhinged video where he declares “I am going to kill Donald Trump”—dressed up in legal jargon about trials and capital punishment. This isn’t clever; it’s a deranged fantasy from someone seeking Ohio’s top law enforcement role.”
Edwards added, “This fits his pattern: he posted ‘F*** Charlie Kirk’ days after his assassination, has a history of rage and now openly fantasizes about executing the President. Democrats, your silence is telling. Dr. Amy Acton and Sherrod Brown—disavow this extremist now, or admit you’re okay with this violent hate in your party. Ohioans, this is why we fight. We stand stronger with President Trump against these radicals pushing threats and division.”
Also chiming in was the Libs of TikTok X account, which said, “Elliot Forhan (D), Candidate for Ohio AG, is a radical, far-left extremist who said he’s going to ‘kiII Donald Trump’ and is obsessed with abolishing ICE for arresting foreign t*rrorists and r*pists. Ohio voters, BEWARE”
