It looks like large, woke businesses have learned nothing from past attacks on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, as a hotel chain is now facing major scrutiny and big boycott threats after it moved to boot out ICE agents onto the freezing streets of Minneapolis-St. Paul on Sunday, January 18.
For reference, ICE is cracking down on illegal immigration and major fraud in the Minneapolis-St. Paul region because of the massive amount of fraud discovered by citizen journalists looking into scandals like the Somali daycare fraud matter and the proclamations of Gov. Tim Walz, Mayor Jacob Frey, and others that the sanctuary cities would continue to defend illegal aliens.
And now the DoubleTree by Hilton team in St. Paul appears to be trying to toss ICE agents staying in the hotel out on the freezing, subzero streets of the city. Such is what was revealed by Fox News reporter Bill Melugin in an infuriating post he made on X in which he showed a picture of a notice that the hotel staff had allegedly left for the ICE agents staying in the facility in which it announced that they would be booted out of the hotel.
The letter began, “Please know that your safety and well-being will always be our top priority. Due to heightened public safety concerns in St. Paul, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our hotel, and your reservation will be canceled effective Sunday, January 18, 2026 by 12PM. We are taking this step out of care for you, our team members, and the surrounding community.”
It added, “Due to your unexpected departure, our team can assist you with alternate accommodations if needed. To support you during this difficult transition and as a gesture of goodwill, we can either refund your last night’s stay or pay your first night’s stay at your new hotel at the same rate as your canceled reservation with us. Thank you for understanding during this challenging time.”
Melugin, commenting on it, said, “NEW: I’m told multiple ICE agents with rooms booked at the St. Paul Downtown Doubletree by Hilton received this notice today that their rooms are being cancelled & the hotel will temporarily close ‘due to heightened public safety concerns in St. Paul.’ I called the hotel & checked online & they are indeed not taking any bookings right now. They referred me to other hotels.”
He then noted, “I’m told this also happened today at the Intercontinental St. Paul, with ICE agents with bookings there notified the hotel will be temporarily closing today due to the ongoing unrest in Minnesota. An agent who talked to the front desk manager there says he was told it was done to protect staff because they have been getting threats from unknown individuals for lodging DHS agents.”

Conservatives in the comments section of his post were furious, and went scorched earth on the hotel chain for its attack on ICE. One commenter, for example, called for the chain to be boycotted over what it did to ICE, saying, “The Hilton is still doubling down on this BS! Never staying @HiltonHotelsever again!” On much the same note, another said, “Well I promise you this, I will never stay at a @HiltonHotels again!” Still another said, “Bye Bye Doubletree Hotels…Hilton Hotels AGAIN!”
Others called for the Trump administration to target the hotel chain with lawfare, saying things like “Bring @Hilton CEO Christopher Nassetta in for a chat. There is a pattern here” and “Can Trump use the War Powers Act to insist the hotels stay open? Seems like that would be a good flex of federal muscle. The agents do need a place to stay — especially since more will be coming.”
