In a dramatic incident that captured the attention of the nation, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Nunez was fatally shot while responding to a domestic violence call in Rancho Cucamonga on October 27, 2025. Then, after the fatal shooting, the suspect fled on a motorcycle, sparking a high-speed chase along the 210 Freeway, reaching over 150 mph while weaving erratically and driving the wrong way. After the wreck, the suspect was airlifted to a hospital and taken into custody.

Dramatic footage that went viral on social media shows the suspect racing along the freeway at high speed before colliding with a car. Before the crash, the motorcycle wove through traffic and repeatedly drove against traffic, trying to escape the police cars that were in pursuit as officials wached from the air.

Then the suspect slammed into a car, crashing in a dramatic end to the chase. With that crash, the suspect was thrown through the air, and what appears to be a handgun flew out of his backpack before impacting the pavement. Almost as soon as the motorcycle came to rest, officers surrounded the man and took him into custody. Shortly after the arrest was completed, the suspect was seen sitting upright in a neck brace before he was loaded onto a gurney and lifted to a hospital.

Tragically, Deputy Andrew Nunez was killed after an incident that began the chase. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office announced, “Deputy Nunez served with unwavering commitment, courage, and deep compassion for the community he vowed to protect.”

Building on this point, it remembered the fallen officers’ dedication. “His bravery and sacrifice reflect a life dedicated to safeguarding others, even at the greatest cost,” the sheriff’s office reminded readers in their statement about the departed deputy.

Additionally, the sheriff’s office extended its condolences to his family. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fellow deputies as they face this unimaginable loss. May they be surrounded by comfort, lifted by the love of their community, and strengthened by the legacy of honor he leaves behind,” the message said.

Concluding the comments, the touching message read, “Such devotion will remain forever etched in our hearts. Rest in eternal peace, Deputy Nunez. Your watch has concluded, yet your spirit, service and sacrifice will live on in every life you touched.”
