The office of John Fetterman (D-PA) disclosed Thursday that the lumbering, first-term Senator had checked himself into a hospital for undisclosed mental health reasons.
“Last night, Senator John Fetterman checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to receive treatment for clinical depression. While John has experienced depression off and on throughout his life, it only became severe in recent weeks,” his office said in a released statement.
“On Monday, John was evaluated by Dr. Brian P. Monahan, the Attending Physician of the United States Congress,” the statement continued. “Yesterday, Dr. Monahan recommended inpatient care at Walter Reed. John agreed, and he is receiving treatment on a voluntary basis.”
“After examining John, the doctors at Walter Reed told us that John is getting the care he needs, and will soon be back to himself,” the statement concluded.
Fetterman’s health has been the subject of rampant speculation since he disclosed he had suffered a stroke while campaigning for Pennsylvania’s vacant Senate seat last spring. His worrisome condition became a focus of the tight race against Dr. Mehmet Oz, though voters eventually – and narrowly – sent the stroke victim to Washington, D.C. over the Donald Trump-backed Oz.
The freshman Senator also got the public backing of a donor/doctor who said he was recovering nicely, words which in hindsight seem misguided at best and knowingly untruthful at worst.
Unfortunately, Fetterman’s health has been anything but optimal ever since his swearing-in ceremony. Video footage of the 6-foot-eight-inch man prompted social media users to question if he even knew where he was or if he recognized his own kids.
It was the honor and privilege of a lifetime to be sworn in as Pennsylvania's junior U.S. Senator today.

And, of course, this latest development comes on the heels of yet another hospitalization. Just last week, Fetterman sought emergency treatment for feelings of dizziness and lightheadedness. His office released a statement about that incident:
Towards the end of the Senate Democratic retreat today, Senator John Fetterman began feeling lightheaded. He left and called his staff, who picked him up and drove him to The George Washington University Hospital. Initial tests did not show evidence of a new stroke, but doctors are running more tests and John is remaining overnight for observation. He is in good spirits and talking with his staff and family. We will provide more information when we have it.
While The American Tribune obviously wishes Fetterman well, or at least as well as can be expected at this point for a man clearly damaged by a serious stroke who was only further debilitated by a grueling election campaign and demanding Senate workload, health concerns aside John Fetterman represents perhaps the worst of the Democrat party.
Cynicality would observe that Democrats ran Fetterman to hide his seriously progressive views, which would be obfuscated by the narratives surrounding his physical and mental health.
At Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, for example, the Pennsylvania Senator invited as his guest a convicted murderer whom he helped parole. No mention was ever made, that The American Tribune is aware, of condolences to the murder victim’s family.
The American Tribune wrote of Fetterman’s guest Dennis Horton:
Pennsylvania’s freshman Senator John Fetterman wasted no time in Congress to advertise his criminal justice reform mindset, showcasing a convicted murderer who spent nearly three decades in prison for heinous crimes as some sort of courageous act.
As Breitbart reported, Dennis Horton was found guilty of a 1993 armed robbery that resulted in the shooting death of one man and attempted shootings of two other people. He was commuted in 2021 in large part due to Fetterman, then the Keystone State’s Lieutenant Governor, overseeing Pennsylvania’s Board of Pardons.
This is a developing story.
