In a very tragic update announced on the night of Monday, March 3, legendary country music star Dolly Parton announced that her longtime husband Carl Dean, to whom she had been married for more than six decades, had passed away on March 3. Mr. Dean was 82 years old when he passed away.
Such is what Mrs. Parton announced in a statement posted across her social media accounts on the night of March 3, noting that Mr. Dean passed away at age 82 in Nashville, Tennessee, and will be buried in a private ceremony for the family. Parton also noted her love for him and how wonderful their marriage was.
The statement began by noting when and where he passed away, saying, “Carl Dean, husband of Dolly Parton, passed away March 3rd in Nashville at the age of 82.” It then described, in brief, the funeral arrangements and who Mr. Dean is survived by, saying, “He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with immediate family attending. He was survived by his siblings Sandra and Donnie.”
The statement next quoted Mrs. Parton as saying, “‘Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy.'” Concluding, the statement noted, “The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time.”
Commenters on the version of the statement posted to X (formerly Twitter), left message of support and condolence like “I’m so very sorry for your loss and hope that in time your memories will be a source of comfort. ” and “Please accept my condolences. You are a role model and America’s Sweetheart. Your marriage to Carl was made in heaven. Stay strong and God bless!”
Another commenter on the post said, “I am so sad for you Dolly. There are millions of people out there that love you for who you are and what you have done for them with your music and your kindness. We all feel for you right now.” Also chiming in, yet another wrote, “Carl once said, ‘I knew right away that I had met the love of my life.’ Sixty years of love now comes to a goodbye. No words can ease this pain, but please know—we love you, Dolly.”
Still another, leaving a similar message of support and kindness, wrote, “God bless you, your family, and especially your beloved husband, Carl, who generously shared you with the world. I wish you and yours peace and comfort during this difficult time. You are loved.” And another said, “I just read this today and felt my heart drop in my stomach. May God Bless you and your family.
