Elon Musk has completed his $44 billion deal to acquire Twitter, the social media giant.
Elon will now become the CEO of the company and begin reversing many of the lifetime bans that were handed down by the company.
Many people are now awaiting the return of Donal Trump to Twitter.
Elon has also begun the process of gutting the company of employees and executives who do not plan to serve in the best interest of Elon’s new plan for the platform.
Musk immediately fired CEO Para Agrawal, along with the CFO and one other executive.
On Thursday evening, Musk took to Twitter to briefly announce the acquisition and subsequent freeing of Twitter.

“The bird is free,” Elon tweeted.
Elon has been vocal during his purchase of Twitter and the long drawn-out litigation that followed that he plans to return Twitter to its days as a platform that embraced free speech.
Musk previously said that he would be bringing Former President Donald Trump back onto the platform, along with others who have been handed lifetime bans by former Twitter administrations.
Following a question about the Donald Trump ban early in 2021, Musk had this to say.
“I think it was a morally bad decision and foolish in the extreme,” declared Musk.
Donald Trump also had some words of support for Elon in a post on Truth Social.
“I am very happy that Twitter is now in sane hands, and will no longer be run by Radical Left Lunatics and Maniacs that truly hate our country,” said Trump. “Twitter must now work hard to rid itself of all of the bots and fake accounts that have hurt it so badly. It will be much small but better.”
Forbes reports that Elon Mush plans to place himself in the CEO role for Twitter.
It has also been reported that the moderation team at Twitter, the group responsible for many of the bans that the platform has handed out, will be gutted and restructured.
Whistleblower Edward Snowden, the former U.S. intelligence contractor-gone-rogue had this to say about the implications of these actions.
“This is going to cause controversy, but platform censorship had clearly gone too far. Content moderation should be an individual decision, not a corporate one. Let people make their own choices – and not just Twitter.”
Elon seemingly agrees with this sentiment that Snowden shared, and he said as much in a statement just hours after buying Twitter.
“The reason I acquire Twitter is that it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square,” said musk, “where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence. There is currently great danger that social media will splinter into far right-wing and far left-wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide our society.”

“Fundamentally, Twitter aspires to be the most respected advertising platform in the world that strengthens your brand and grows your enterprise. To overdone who has garnered with us, I thank you. Let us build something extraordinary together.”
Elon appears ready to embark on the restructuring of Twitter and seems dead-set on creating a new bastion of free speech for the world to use for information and debate.
