According to a recent Gallup survey, a record 40% of U.S. women aged 15-44 want to emigrate permanently. This number has quadrupled from 10% in 2014, compared to just 19% of men in the same age group, making this the widest gender gap since 2007.
According to the same source, the surge began in 2016, following the presidential primaries, signaling a broader societal shift among young women that goes beyond party loyalty. For context, these findings coincide with the 2025 Virginia gubernatorial election, where Democrat Abigail Spanberger defeated Republican Winsome Earle-Sears, capturing 65% of the votes from women versus 35% among men, fueled by a 30-point gender advantage.
Specifically, Spanberger’s campaign drew attention to Earle-Sears’ pro-life stance, quoting her as deeming abortion “wicked” and expressing moral opposition to the practice. This echoes the 2022 Dobbs decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade, amplifying Democratic mobilization on the issue, as seen in Harris’s efforts, and propelling Spanberger to become Virginia’s first female governor.
For example, one woman noted how the Republican nominee in Virginia allegedly called abortion ‘wicked’ and just this year handwrote a note on Virginia’s proposed constitutional amendment protecting abortion in Virginia, making clear that she is ‘morally opposed’.”
Speaking about this data, Julie Ray, the Managing Editor for World News at Gallup, noted, “This is actually a higher percentage than we’ve seen in a lot of years. We saw it just increase and increase. We’ve seen this intense, intense polarization.”
One woman, who wasn’t buying this line from liberals. “Canadian living in America has a message for all who hate the current administration, she thought moving to America meant the right to your beliefs and free speech, but has quickly learned that the left doesn’t agree,” she noted.
Quoting a video which made the same point, she explained, “You say you’re the party of tolerance, but you namecall anyone who disagrees with you. You say you’re all for inclusion, but exclude half the country because they voted differently than you. You preach about kindness and empathy but cheer when conservatives lose their lives.”

A typical unhinged liberal response showed insight into the mindset of these women. One breathless response read, “Women are leaving b/c the US is misogynist AF and is rapidly spiraling into Gilead, with/ the help of MOST men, regardless of political affiliation. I left 35 years ago; I’ve lived in 4 other countries & all of them better than the US.”
However, others, such as columnist Miranda Devine, took a more nuanced approach. “To be fair, it’s because they can’t buy a house, settle down and partake of the American dream, and all they see is octogenarians squatting in power. I don’t think their choice is wise but it’s understandable,” she suggested.
Another progressive activist claimed, “Men. This is your loneliness epidemic. This trend has been happening for about 10 years and spikes when Trump is in power.
Treat women better.”
Doubling down on his absurd ideas, the SJW said, “You’re following a man who launched his political career with ‘Grab em by the p**sy’ and ‘I could shoot someone and not lose any votes. He’s disrespected women reporters. He’s overturned Roe…You model yourselves after a man famous for his misogyny.”
