Bongino Toasts Supposed Conservative Writer for Attacking Trump Family

Conservative commentator and podcast host Dan Bongino sounded off on National Review writer Natan Ehrenreich after the writer went on the attack against Trump family member Lara Trump, wife of Eric Trump and the Republican National Committee co-chair, over her involvement in a recent firefighter tribute music video titled “Hero.”

Bongino, known as a close ally of the Trump family and its political efforts, roasted Ehrenreich’s criticism of Lara Trump as being an “idiotic” critique, then took to sounding off on the National Review’s direction as a publication. The National Review, for reference, used to be a relatively good conservative magazine, but has tacked to the left in the MAGA era.

Ehrenreich, starting the spat, wrote for the National Review that Lara Trump’s music video appearance was “cringe-inducing.” Ehrenreich said, in the article, “Alongside Madeline Jaymes, she recently released “Hero,” a moving (read: cringe-inducing) tribute to firefighters.” He then used it to critique her focus during election season, saying, “It’s an important reminder of the amazing things our Republican Party leaders are up to in these pivotal times.”

Dan Bongino, sounding off in quote tweet of the National Review’s post on X (formerly Twitter) about the article, wrote, “Only the most critical election of our lifetime, against the most radical leftist we’ve ever seen, and this is the kind of bullshit National Review is focused on. SMH. 🤦” The National Review had said, “RNC co-chair Lara Trump, alongside Madeline Jaymes, recently released “Hero,” a moving (read: cringe-inducing) tribute to firefighters. | @NatanEhrenreich”

Ehrenreich, responding to Bongino, fired back, arguing that Lara ought to be focusing on the election rather than music videos, snapping, “It’s my fault for *noticing* that Lara Trump, the co-chair of the Republican National Committee, is spending the months ahead of the “most critical election of our lifetime” making music videos.”

Bongino wasn’t done. Responding to Ehrenreich’s counter-attack, Bongino said, “This little douche will never understand why he’s an imbecile. He’s twelve years old with zero life experience. And a once great publication published his drivel, while the real warriors are trying to save the country. It’s class-A morons like this dipshit that fulfill the useful idiocracy class.”

The comments section was somewhat divided on whom should be supported. One commenter, for example, told Bongino that Ehrenreich had a point, saying, “Nah. I’m a republican and I agree with him on this one. If Lara Trump wanted that leadership role in the RNC then she should be spending the next 70 days being a workhorse and chasing ballots. There shouldn’t be sacred cows here if you think this election is imperative to win.”

On the same side, another commenter argued that the RNC should be fighting real battles rather than being distracted with videos, saying, “Sorry Dan he is right! What the hell is she doing? RNC should be in court rooms all day! They shouldn’t be allowed to sleep until every Republican voter registers a new voter and has them vote early! She has gone hollywood. Stop this blind loyalty crap!”

Others argued that Ehrenreich’s criticism of Lara Trump’s music video was unfair, writing that the National Review couldn’t but be expected to push such slop. that commenter said, “What do you expect from National Review? They aren’t going to produce a revival. How a moving story about heros is cringe worthy is beyond my understanding. Sigh…”
