Blue State Democrat Takes Her Party’s Legislative Leaders to Court after Discovering a Massive $12 Million in Fraud

Massachusetts State Auditor Diana DiZoglio, a rare Democrat in that she is honest and willing to go against her party to expose corruption, is suing the state legislature and AG to enforce a 2024 voter-approved audit law, which passed with 72% support, after her office uncovered nearly $12 million in alleged fraud in public assistance programs.

Despite the AG’s decision not to intervene, DiZoglio stresses transparency, noting that Massachusetts is the only state that exempts its legislature from public records laws. State officials claim DiZoglio lacks the authority to file a lawsuit. The case heads to the Supreme Judicial Court, underscoring a struggle between entitled politicians and their voters.

“What are they hiding? If there’s nothing to hide, open up the doors, let the sun shine in. Let’s do this audit,” Diana DiZoglio asked rhetorically. She then went on to declare, and rightly so, “This is something that 72% of voters came out to support, crossing party lines.”

Adding more context, the honest Democrat further called out her party leadership and noted, “You had progressive Democrats joining together with conservative Republicans. And essentially saying that they want this audit to get done.” Clarifying,  “This is about transparency and accountability.”

Laying out her case for taking this very seriously and cracking down on corruption, she declared, “This is not about whether you support the right or the left. This is coming together and getting access to documents that should be a matter of public record, pointing out, “A lot of people rely on these programs.”

“But folks who are committing fraud need to be held accountable. We need to root out that waste, fraud and abuse so that these systems are working as they should and people truly in need get these services…The Constitution is there to protect the people, not the politicians,” she said to conclude her remarks.

Dismissing these serious allegations of open and obvious corruption committed by Democrats, Andrea Campbell, the far-left Massachusetts Attorney General, argued, “This is another ploy to sidestep the required approval of my office and will bring her no closer to auditing the Legislature.”

Continuing to deny any wrongdoing, the AG claimed, “This filing is not about enforcing the law. In order to enforce the law, she would answer my office’s straightforward questions, including how privileges given to the Legislature in our state constitution nearly 250 years ago impact her authority to audit the Legislature.”

When news of the scandal spread on social media, users were disgusted by the allegations of corruption. “UNBELIEVABLE 🚨The Governor, state legislature & courts, exempt themselves from public records law,” a viral post read. Still not done, the same user exclaimed, “(MA) state auditor Diana Dizoglio (D) found ($12M) of fraud in public aid programs, she reported it to the legislature and the (AG) and they ignored her Send the  @FBI in there.”

Disgusted, one comment read, “MA politicians exempting themselves from public records is the tell. They know what’s in there. And $12M in aid fraud gets shrugged off because it’s not their money, it’s yours. If the AG won’t move, fine. Subpoenas, audits, and federal eyes. Sunlight or prosecutions. Pick one.”

Likewise, another asked, “How are they able to avoid an audit that was mandated by the voters, and the state auditor has repeatedly asked for the information and they refuse to comply…
We all know where the money is. It was all spent on illegals and no bid contracts to help illegals.”
