In a very funny and expectedly characteristic response to being caught in a massive case of embezzlement and fraud, the most infamous of the Black Lives Matter fraudsters, Monica Cannon-Grant, cursed and hurled vile insults at the Daily Mail after she agreed to plead guilty to the fraud charges brought against her.
As background, Cannon-Grant was a Black Lives Matter-connected community organizer who garnered donations for her spinoff of racial equity-focused network after the death of George Floyd. Instead of using it for the charitable purposes it was garnered under pretenses of. The fraud took place through the activist’s personally-founded and now-defunct non-profit, “Violence in Boston.”
According to charges brought against her and her husband, Clark Grant, in 2022, Cannon-Grant committed dozens of counts of fraud-related crimes, facing 27 counts on 18 different crimes. The charges against her included directly fraud-related crimes like wire and mail fraud and conspiracy, and ancillary crimes like lying on a mortgage application and tax violations.
Cannon-Grant has agreed to plead guilty to the charges, a change from her initial plea of not guilty when the charges were brought against her. She is also accused of having collected $100,000 of Pandemic Unemployment Assistance benefits, and of defrauding the City of Boston by collecting $53,977 in COVID pandemic relief funds that were used by her and her husband to pay their auto loan and auto insurance bills.
In any case, the most infamous set of crimes of which Cannon-Grant is accused and has agreed to plead guilty to, is her use of charity funds for various personal spending, such as vacations, fancy restaurants, trips to a nail salon, a car, and rent on her personal apartment. Her husband died in March of 2023 in a motorcycle crash.
So, the Daily Mail, the British tabloid, pressed her on that matter and asked her about the matter of her having defrauded donors and used the funds collected by her personally founded non-profit not to advance racial equity but to fund her personal blowout spending on various luxuries and personal wants.
Cannon-Grant did not respond well to the email request for comment. Instead, she responded vulgarly, the Daily Mail reports, saying, “Respectfully F**k You!” Continuing, she wrote (errors of grammar reportedly hers), “You wasn’t reaching out or interested in my side of the story when I caught this case 4 1/2 years ago and you wasn’t reaching out when my deceased husband was murdered so yeah f**k you.”

Aidan Kearney, the journalist who exposed Cannon-Grant, took a victory lap on X after she changed her plea, writing, “I couldn’t properly enjoy this the other day, but for people who started following me AFTER Karen Read, you probably have no idea what a victory this is. Exposing Monica Cannon-Grant took several years. I knew her non-profit was fraudulent and that she was grifting off the BLM movement.”
Continuing, Kearney wrote, “Yet the most powerful politicians in Massachusetts, including
@RepPressley @SenWarren @joekennedy @marty_walsh @mayorwu, the Celtics, the Bruins, and everyone in the mainstream media (including @SueOC_NBCBoston, who I have grown to respect), promoted her and provided cover for her. Monica was vile, racist, and disgusting. And my journalism in exposing her non-profit fraud is the reason the feds began investigating her. She insisted she would be found not guilty at trial, and I was looking forward to attending her trial. But on Friday she notified a federal judge that she would be pleading guilty. I can’t wait to be there for the sentencing.”
