According to recent reports, President Joe Biden is losing support from diverse voters in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania. Reports indicate that black voters in Philadelphia, typically a Democratic stronghold, are turning away from the party.
Reportedly, black voters in the city are frustrated with several significant issues plaguing the United States, such as persistent inflation, rampant illegal immigration, and foreign wars that are receiving billions in taxpayer-funded aid.
The New York Times recently conducted polling in predominantly black Philadelphia neighbors and what they discovered is quite concerning for the Biden campaign. The outlet claimed they could find eight voters who claimed they would vote for Biden in the upcoming election.
Additional polling from CNN corroborates this finding, showing that Trump’s support among black voters has shot up to 22 percent. Notably, Trump had roughly 9 percent of the black vote in the 2020 election, highlighting the magnitude of the shift.
“I don’t care about what goes on overseas,” one resident, 36-year-old Latasha Humphrey, said. “I care about where I live.” Humphrey claimed that, while she doesn’t vote often, she is leaning toward casting her ballot for Donald Trump in November.
However, Philadelphia City Councilman Isaiah Thomas claimed that it would be too “easy” to dissuade people from voting for Trump. Still, he noted that it would be tough to sell voters on Biden simultaneously. “‘It’s going to be easy to convince people not to vote for Trump,” Thomas said. “It’s going to be hard to convince people to vote for Biden.” He continued, “Those are two totally different fights.”
In light of the troubling polling data on President Biden’s support from the black community, the administration’s black media director, Jasmine Harris, explained that the campaign is not taking the black vote for granted.
“(The campaign is) treating black voters as persuasion targets, pouring the same resources into reaching them that you do for traditional swing voters,” she said. “We’ll really see the results of our campaign’s outreach to black voters closer to Election Day,” according to a statement from Harris.
Further highlighting this palpable frustration from the black community, the American Tribune recently reported on commentary from African American voters in Chicago, who illustrated how many members of their community are considering voting for Donald Trump.
During an appearance on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends First,” Chicagoans P-Rae Easley and Betty Guider discussed how they are seeing the Windy City flip from a “Democratic stronghold.” They claim the city is “fed up” with contemporary liberal politics.
“The city is completely fed up with the Democratic Party. We are stepping over illegals every day. They are now trying to break into people’s homes. Gas is through the roof, groceries are through the roof, violence is up. Nothing is comfortable here under Democratic leadership. We’re all moving on,” said Easley.
Easley added, “I think that they’re definitely going to vote for Donald Trump, because we can’t afford to keep subsidizing the illegals who are coming here. … People are proudly stating that they’re going to vote for the first time in their lives, and they’re going to run to the polls to vote for Donald John Trump.” Watch the segment below:
