Obama once famously said, “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f–k things up.” Whether he actually said that and what the context was remains to be seen, but what we do see is Obama was right for a change. Joe Biden has consistently beefed at every turn. Whether it be with visits with foreign leaders, falling asleep at key political events, checking his watch when he is supposed to be honoring fallen soldiers, or shaking ghost hands before stumbling off-stage, Joe Biden has excelled at embarrassment.
Biden’s most recent escapade comes on the heels of one of the worst wildfire disasters in American history, as an overnight fire ravaged the tropical paradise of Maui, killing an unknown number of people. It should be recalled that when told about the tragedy while sunning himself on the beach during one of his numerous vacations, Biden simply smiled and said ‘no comment.‘
Even though that was classic Joe Biden, as he has a lengthy track record of dismissive behavior when confronted by tragedy, the residents of Maui and the nation as a whole were not amused. When Biden finally traveled to the devastated island Monday, in the middle of yet another vacation, he was greeted with an earful from local residents, angry at the lack of compassion and governmental response.
Locals made themselves heard with signs, chants, and hand gestures as the Biden motorcade passed. A volunteer named Eddie Garcia, who was busy handing out food to local residents, had this to say about Biden’s response: “The Biden visit was a public relations tactic. They failed us on every level. Their red tape, their bureaucracy.”
Another local named Mike Cicchino proceeded to put Biden on blast: “We’re not very political people. You know? We really don’t go one way or the other, but Biden has really failed us. When something like this, one of the worst disasters in U.S. history happens — he hasn’t been out here, and it’s been two weeks on Tuesday. What kind of president does that?”
Sadly, the entire world is seeing what kind of president does that. Joe Biden does that. Former president and current GOP front-runner Donald Trump blasted Biden and the sluggish governmental response last week. He said: “The death caused by this catastrophic event will be far worse than ever expected now that houses and cars and other areas are being inspected. The sad thing is it should never have happened. Our government was not prepared.”
Trump went on to blast Democrat Governor Josh Green for attempting to blame the fire on climate change, even though authorities know climate change had little to nothing to do with it, and trying to politicize the tragedy.
The former president ripped Biden for his lack of response: “It is a disgraceful thing that Joe Biden refuses to help or comment on the tragedy in Maui just as he refused to help or comment on the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, for a very, very long time. In any event, hopefully, everyone will be able to pull together so that a horrible situation does not get even worse. To the families affected, I give you my love and sympathy. Nothing can ever replace your loved ones. But you will always have the memories and will feel their great love surrounding and embracing you. Together, we will continue to carry their legacy forward and I love you all very much.”
President Trump’s heartfelt words stand in stark contrast to Biden’s dismissive “no comment.” Will the residents of Hawaii, a blue state, remember this disrespect in 2024? That is anyone’s guess, but Joe Biden and his failed administration are once again proving that Joe can indeed “f” things up.
