Biden Condemns Sale of Semi-Automatic Weapons: “No Social Redeeming Value”

When asked to comment on the Walmart shooting during his visit with Nantucket firefighters, President Biden called for “much stricter gun laws,” saying:

I’m sick and tired of these shootings. We should have much stricter gun laws.

He then elaborated on what that meant, saying that he thinks there should be red flag laws enforced and said that the sale of “semiautomatic weapons” is “sick” and that the sale of such weapons should be stopped, saying:

    Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Look, the idea that we’re not enforcing red-flag laws, period, just based on knowledge, not on parents saying or a loved one saying you should arrest this person now for his own sake, is ridiculous.

We got one of the first red-flag laws in the state of Delaware, and my son Beau was the one enforcing it. And it made a lot of difference. It saves lives. So that’s number one.

Number two, the idea — the idea we still allow semiautomatic weapons to be purchased is sick. It’s just sick. It has no, no social redeeming value. Zero. None. Not a single, solitary rationale for it except profit for the gun manufacturers.

But that wasn’t all. While Biden wants to stop the sale of semi-auto weapons to average Americans, he apparently wants to keep sending more aid to the Ukrainians, saying:

Well, yes. Matter of fact, I just had another drawdown. I signed another drawdown of over $300 million. And there’s no time — this is no time to walk away from Ukraine. Not at all.

Now, we had a lot of talk in this last election about whether the other team is going to continue to support Ukraine, and I still believe there’s enough support there that we can continue —

So in Biden’s preferred world, some corrupt satrapy of America in Eastern Europe will receive millions more dollars in aid and likely many more weapons as tensions with a nuclear armed Russia only increase, but you can’t own a semi-auto rifle with which you could defend your home from criminals or tyrants.

Biden’s remarks on gun control and banning semi-automatic weapons came shortly after a gunman in a suburb of Norfolk, VA shot up a Walmart preparing for Black Friday, killing 6 coworkers in the break room at around 10 pm before committing suicide.

The AP, describing what happened during the attack, reported that:

A Walmart manager pulled out a handgun before a routine employee meeting and began firing wildly around the break room of a Virginia store, killing six people in the nation’s second high-profile mass shooting in four days, police and witnesses said Wednesday.

The gunman was dead when officers arrived late Tuesday at the store in Chesapeake, Virginia’s second-largest city. Authorities said he apparently shot himself. Police were trying to determine a motive. One employee described watching “bodies drop” as the assailant fired haphazardly, without saying a word.
