Conservatives erupted in anger after the woke mayor of Boise, Idaho, considered a resolution to make the Pride Flag the official city flag to sidestep a state law restricting which symbols can be displayed at municipal buildings.
For context, LTBGQ+ activists are always trying to force their politics onto normal Americans. This story is significant because it shows that even in deep red states like Idaho, leftist activists are at work undermining America.
Such was shown when conservative influencer Libs of TikTok took to X on May 2, 2025, to expose the scandal. She said, “NEW: The Boise City Council is reportedly considering a resolution to make the Pride Flag an “official” city flatoto circumvent Idaho state law which only allows the display of local, state, and federal flags,” adding, “This comes after Boise Mayor Lauren McLean publicly announced she would be defying the state’s flag law. Democrats are desperate to promote LGBTQ propaganda to your children.
Attached to her post. Libs of TikTok included a letter written by the far-left Boise mayor. The document read, “I write in response to your letter dated April 15, 2025, and your social media assertions that the City of Boise is “flying two flags in defiance of the law,” citing recently enacted House Bill 86. It’s important to be honest with each other and the citizens we serve, especially on an issue H.B. 86 brought by a legislator hostile to Boise and was foisted upon the City by the State of Idaho in the last days of the legislative session, as a vehicle for the City of Boise to take down the Pride flag that has flown at City Hall for nearly 10 years.”
Arguing against the restriction on flags, Boise Mayor Lauren McLean promised to fight for the pride flag. She stated, “We believe that it is not enforceable as drafted, and that the State of Idaho seeks to impose civil or criminal penalties, it will be acting in bad faith, in turn, the City of Boise will take appropriate legal and political steps to stand up for members of our community. That is the sacred pledge that I made when I was elected as Mayor, and members of the City Council made when they were elected.”
Claiming that by enforcing the law, the Idaho AG was “threatening” her. She whined, “As uncomfortable as it is to be threatened by you, the Attorney General, for standing with and for my community, I welcome the valuable public dialogue your threats have sparked. It is an opportunity for elected officials and citizens alike to consider the meaning of our dearly held constitutional rights, the limits of government power, and individual responsibilities in a democracy.”
Still not done, she wasted time congratulating herself. The mayor added, “It challenges us as elected officials, and the citizens of Boise to examine our hearts and determine whether we should remain silent when our deeply held values are challenged. This moment reminds us that our Constitution and our democracy bring promises that must be defended, sometimes loudly, and often at personal cost.”

Concluding her woke letter, the mayor vowed to fight against this restriction. She whined, “I hope this ends any dispute and that we can instead work together on issues that advance prosperity for our residents. But I will say again, if your office intends to pursue enforcement or penalties against me for standing up for the citizens and rights I made a commitment to, I am prepared to fight with every tool I have to preserve the liberty, fairness, and opportunity for everyone. Sincerely, Lauren McLean”
