The owner of the iconic fast-food chain In-N-Out has confirmed that the brand will be relocating to Tennessee due to the hostile business environment and far-left policies prevalent in California. Lynsi Snyder criticized the COVID-era restrictions and other gripes when explaining her decision to relocate.
For context, Snyder emphasized her strong commitment to the chain’s quality and values, which are rooted in her grandparents’ legacy. The businesswoman’s remarks align with many conservative critics who note that California is making it almost impossible to do business in the state.
In any case, Snyder began her remarks by slamming the deep blue state. She said, “There’s a lot of great things about California, but raising a family is not easy here. Doing business is not easy here,” adding, “Now the bulk of our stores are still going to be here in California, but it will be wonderful having an office out there, growing out there, and being able to have the family and other people’s families out there.”
Explaining the issue with doing business in the state, she added, “I mean, there was a lot. There was actually — gunshots went through the store, there was a stabbing, there was a lot. For the safety of our associates, we just felt like, this is not OK.”
Despite her decision, Snyder admitted that the company was tied to California, explaining, “Number one priority is really keeping the company the same company that my grandparents started. My uncle opened the office in Irvine … in the ‘90s. When my dad came down to run the business, we had moved to Northern California. It was family over-fighting with his brother and running the company.”
Describing her next moves, she revealed, “We’re building an office in Franklin [Tennessee,] so I’m actually moving out there…Florida has begged us, and we’re still saying no. The East Coast states, we’re saying no. We are able to reach Tennessee from our Texas warehouse.”
As we previously reported, In-N-Out has been forced to close several stores due to the crime wave sweeping across California. In-N-Out Chief Operating Officer Denny Warwick issued a statement that revealed, “We have made the decision to close our In-N-Out Burger location in Oakland, California, due to ongoing issues with crime.”

Adding more context, the executive described how In-and-Out had attempted to solve the issue with crime, but without success. He said, “Despite taking repeated steps to create safer conditions, our Customers and Associates are regularly victimized by car break-ins, property damage, theft, and armed robberies. Our last day of business in Oakland will be Sunday, March 24, 2024.”
Expressing sadness at the hard decision, Warwick declared, “We are grateful for the local community, which has supported us for over 18 years, and we recognize that this closure negatively impacts our Associates and their families. Additionally, this location remains a busy and profitable one for the company, but our top priority must be the safety and well-being of our Customers and Associates – we cannot ask them to visit or work in an unsafe environment.”
