Great news dropped for those watching the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) tear through government fraud and waste when the department announced the cancellation of 109 wasteful government contracts, totaling a ceiling value of $1.1 billion and yielding $420 million in savings.
For context, this move aligns with a White House executive order that directed agencies to review and cancel nonessential contracts in order to save money. DOGE was established as part of a broader initiative to slash federal spending by targeting fraud, waste, and financial abuse.
Such was shown when DOGE announced the massive round of cancellations on April 1, 2025. It posted, “Contract update! Today, agencies canceled 109 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $1.1B and savings of $420m.” DOGE added how the cut programs included “a $3.1M @ENERGY contract for “website development services” and a $2.7M @CommerceGov contract for “marketing consulting services outreach and engagement support services.'”
Conservatives were out in force in the comments to support DOGE’s cost-saving measures. Some of the comments called for arrests for this obvious graft. One of the comments read, “Hmm, @CommerceGov @GinaRaimondo was in charge of that department. Please make sure you notify us when you arrest her for fraud, please.”
Building on that point, other replies highlighted the absurdity of paying $3.1 for a website. One response read, “Imagine spending $3.1M on a government website and still ending up with something that looks like it was coded in 2008. DOGE just saved us from another digital dumpster fire.”
Responding to DOGE’s post, commenters celebrated the department’s actions. One of the comments read, “This is what real accountability looks like. Over a billion in wasteful contracts shut down, and nearly half a billion in savings reclaimed. Cutting a $3.1 million website job and a $2.7 million marketing gig shows that someone is finally watching where the money goes.”
Another lengthy comment thanked DOGE for its transparency. This reply read, “Solid update. 109 contracts worth $1.1B — with $420M in savings unlocked — this isn’t a surface-level cut, it’s meaningful progress. $3.1M for a website and $2.7M for vague “marketing engagement”?”

Adding to that point, the same comments explained how DOGE may save the American taxpayer from financial abuse. The comment continued, “Classic examples of government budget bloat. Good to see them finally getting chopped. If this becomes standard practice, the system might actually start treating taxpayer money like it’s their own.”
Other users expressed their anger at how taxpayer dollars are wasted. Amongst the many replies, one said “This enrages me that so many people have busted their asses to make a living and PAY their taxes for ponzi schemes like this. Thank you @DOGE.” Another chimed in, “Everyday awesome to unburden ourselves with these waste and fraud found and cancelled.”
Rounding out the comments, one user explained why the Democrats are so despirate to stop DOGE. The comment read, “Every single day there’s a ton more that we’re saving because of DOGE. The fact that the Dems are so angry and they’re attacking Tesla so hard is proof that DOGE is making this country amazing and taking a hatchet to the source of the Dems wealth and power. There is a great fight going on for the future of America, and with DOGE, that future is looking very bright.”
