A concealed carry Texan saved the day at an El Paso mall after he subdued a violent threat that had already left one person dead. Local police reported that a legally-armed citizen drew his firearm and injured a 16-year-old gunman who had shot one victim and continued pointing it at other patrons.
The hero is being identities as 32-year-old Emanuel Duran, a concealed carry permit holder, who once again reminds the world that armed, law-abiding citizens can often neutralize dangerous threats from criminal elements much more quickly than a police response.
Indeed, had the only gun in the mall been in the hands of a person already having proven to use deadly force, how much longer would that scenario have played out? Everyone is safer when criminals don’t know who they can target.
“As soon as the shooting ended, the 16-year-old suspect began to run and was pointing the gun towards the direction of bystanders. As the suspect ran towards Duran and bystanders, Duran drew his handgun and shot the suspect,” the El Paso police department said in a released statement.
Breitbart reported that “[t]he shooting was allegedly the result of a confrontation between the 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, whom he shot.” The news outlet continued, saying that “[a]fter the shooting, the 16-year-old allegedly turned to flee the scene, and that is when he crossed paths with the concealed carrier.”
The shooting left the 16 year old in stable condition. It was also reported that he was using a stolen gun.
The El Paso story is just one of countless, often unreported stories of defense or self-defense against violent criminals. In related news, the New York Post just recently shared how an off-duty female officer was luckily carrying a firearm in Chicago as a would-be robber attempted to strong arm her. The New York Post wrote:
An off-duty Chicago cop warned a potential robber she’d kill him, and then followed through on that pledge when she fired three shots at the man, footage from the wild scene showed.
The police officer issued the threat on Jan. 17 after the suspect appeared to grab her gun minutes after she broke up a fight among four people — including the alleged thief, officials said.

The man can be seen on camera lunging for her, in which the woman issues the warning that he’ll end him if he persisted. “I’ll kill you!” she can be heard screaming. The struggle continued, and just moments later two shots were discharged. The attacker can be heard saying “you got me, you got me.”
“I told your dumb— I’d kill you,” the woman then says before getting off a third and final shot.
“Damn, baby, I’m sorry,” the critically-wounded attacker then said, before adding. “I don’t want to die.”
“You thought I was playing, I told you I’d shoot you,” the officer responded. “I told your dumb— I’d shoot you. You tried to steal my f—ing gun,” she admonished, showing no remorse to a man who deserved none.
