As Killer Mike received his awards on stage, his excitement was palpable, and his infectious energy could be felt just by watching. However, the rapper’s mood would quickly be soured as he would soon be in handcuffs. As LAPD led him out of the Crypto Arena, Mike can be heard loudly exclaiming, “Are you serious??” The police officers retorted that they were indeed serious.
The Daily Mail reported on the incident, noting that a “physical altercation” played some role in the arrest of the musician. “At 4pm an adult male was taken into custody for a physical altercation that took place inside the arena,’ a spokesman from the LAPD said. He further explained that the alleged “altercation” happened moments before the person was arrested.
Some reports suggest that Killer Mike became entangled in a scuffle with a security guard. “Right now, the preliminary investigation is: he is being investigated for battery,’ the spokesman added. “He will not be identified until he is arrested and charged, if he is.”
“He actually hit someone in the crowd and it was recorded. So they called the police, showed the video, let him receive the awards and arrested,” an unconfirmed report alleged from an X user who commented under Rugg’s post.
Killer Mike won three awards, including Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for ‘Scientists & Engineers,’ and the Best Rap Album for Michael. “The only thing that limits your age is not being truthful about your age or what you’re doing,” the 48-year-old Mike said during the event.
“At 20 years old, I thought it was cool to be a drug dealer,” he continued. “At 40, I started to live with the regrets and the things I’ve done. At 45, I started to rap about it. At 48, I stand here as a man full of empathy and sympathy for the things I’ve done.”
