According to Texas Republican Rep. Micahel McCaul, the GOP House members must and will push the impeachment of Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas over the finish line as the dangers and problems at the border explode under the Biden Administration.
Rep. McCaul did so when speaking with Fox News Channel’s Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures.” He joined the program live from the town of Pharr, Texas, and weighed in on why the GOP members have to push through the impeachment to defend America as the dangers from the situation at the border get worse and worse.
Speaking to Bartiromo, McCaul described Secretary Mayorkas as being the “architect” of America’s destruction. He said, “This one man is the architect of destruction down here. One man has caused all this chaos, deaths from fentanyl poisoning, danger to the country with terrorists coming in and 8 million encounters with no legal status. He is the architect. He has destroyed the fabric of this nation.”
Continuing, and describing the path forward for the Mayorkas impeachment, Rep. McCaul said, “The founding fathers talked about breach of public trust was sufficient for impeachment, and we intend to go forward. Chairman Mark Green is doing a great job. We’re working together. Articles of impeachment [on] January 31st, and we will impeach him after that.”
Pressing Rep. McCaul, Bartiromo questioned why he and other Republicans had decided to fund the government rather than force a decision on border security through a government shutdown. She asked, “So why did you do it? Why did you kick the can down the road and continue funding this government? When you are up close and personal at the border, and you see the devastating impact.”
Rep. McCaul defended his conduct, telling Bartiromo that it would have been “very dangerous” to inflict a government shutdown right now, saying, “I didn’t kick any can down the road. I didn’t want to take my football and go home and not play on the football field. You can’t win the game if you’re not on the field and the fact is, it would jeopardize our military readiness at a very dangerous time [and] our veterans. And you know what? I was with our border patrol all day yesterday for me to come home and tell them we’re not going to give you your paychecks to do your job, and that’s insulting.…”
He added that some sort of border security package should be put into effect in a month or so, saying, “What we need is about a month to get this right. We want to get a border security package. We didn’t have it in agreement, and that’s unfortunate. The whole process should have been done a year ago, but we had to make a decision where we were.”

Tweeting about the border situation recently, Rep. McCaul said, “The border crisis continues to wreak havoc on communities across the nation, with Texas bearing the brunt of the burden. I was proud to lead a bipartisan congressional delegation to the Texas border this week to see the situation firsthand and speak with those on the frontlines.”
