Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who is recognized by a significant number of individuals as the most prominent leader within the Democratic Party’s radical left-wing, has renewed her membership in the national Democratic Socialists of America organization as she continues to consider a run for the White House in 2028.
She rejoined the group after being a lapsed member for the last seven years, according to a statement released by the DSA. As soon as the far-left Democrat renewed her membership, a group of leaders from the organization announced they would be putting out a petition to secure the DSA’s endorsement of Ocasio-Cortez, who is also known as “AOC,” for the 2028 presidential election.
The petition calls for AOC to be named as its official pick for the presidency “as early as possible so that we can use the campaign to grow our movement and spread socialist politics.” It’s important to note that the leadership of the DSA is largely — and admittedly — communist in their ideology, a fact that was made known by former Democratic Chief Counsel for the House Judiciary Committee Julian Epstein.
According to a previous report from The American Tribune, Epstein sat down for an interview on The Alex Marlow Show, where he said that Americans should understand the group as a communist organization. Epstein cited data collected concerning the DSA’s policy committee, which he referred to as the group’s governing board, to support his claim.
Epstein went on to reveal that about 51% of the committee openly embraces communism, Marxism, or Marxist-Leninism. He then said that the Democratic Party is quickly losing its reputation as being for “the little guy,” and is becoming increasingly radical in its leftist policies, making room for younger, socialist and communist candidates.
“I think this is a party that is like sheep; they’re all falling off a cliff,” Epstein went on to say. “I’ve been warning about this for a long time.” He then claimed that the left is moving toward “nihilism” as its base political ideology, noting that when your policy platform becomes all about grievance, “you aren’t about anything.”
“By the way, the Free Press has done a great piece this week showing that 51% of the policy committee, which is the governing board of the DSA, all openly embrace communism, Marxism, or Marxist-Leninism,” Epstein explained. “The conceit there is that if people are frustrated with the status quo, and a lot of people may be frustrated for legitimate reasons, that means they accept the communist agenda of DSA.”

“So the DSA is essentially a communist organization, and that’s not McCarthyism,” Epstein said. “That’s not Red Scare. That’s how they describe themselves,” he continued. According to a report from The Washington Times, polling data shows that AOC would be one of the most competitive candidates from the Democratic Party if she runs for the White House.
A poll from Quantus Insights has AOC coming in third place among preferred Democratic candidates with 15.3%, just behind former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg at 25.7%, and Sen. Jon Ossoff with 21.3%. “You’ve probably heard names like Gavin Newsom or Pete Buttigieg for president in 2028. No thanks,” a DSA for AOC advocate goes on to say in a social media ad.
“We need someone who’s going to fight for the working class by passing an arms embargo on Israel, the Green New Deal, and Medicare for all. That’s why AOC should run for president. She’s the best candidate to beat establishment Dems in the primary and MAGA in the general,” the advocate continues in the advertisement.
