The infamous “Squad” member and far-left Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY) has found herself embroiled in controversy after she attempted to disguise her privileged background in a post to social media. After she was hilariously fact-checked, AOC was forced to make an embarrassing concession and walk back her previous remarks.
For context, AOC claimed to be a scrappy Bronx native, but New York Assemblyman Matt Slater shared her yearbook photo from the prestigious Yorktown High School. Pivoting away from the embarrassing situation, Cortez downplayed her suburban upbringing and claimed that her childhood molded her views on “inequality.”
As we reported, AOC was initially triggered by a hilarious post from President Donald Trump, where he had harshly criticised the controversial Democrat. The entitled AOC tweeted, “Mr. President, don’t take your anger out on me – I’m just a silly girl. Take it out on whoever convinced you to betray the American people and our Constitution by illegally bombing Iran and dragging us into war. It only took you 5 months to break almost every promise you made.”
Continuing her self-congratulatory post, AOC whined about her supposedly poor upbringing, saying, “Also, I’m a Bronx girl. You should know that we can eat Queens boys for breakfast. Respectfully.” However, in an epic reaction, which went massively viral on social media, Assemblyman Matt Slater shut her down. In a brief response, Slater joked, “@AOC if you’re a BX girl, then why are you in my Yorktown yearbook? Give it up already.”
Reeling from the social media demolition, AOC was forced to backtrack in a move that totally destroyed her credibility. The ‘Squad’ member said, “I’m proud of how I grew up and talk about it all the time! My mom cleaned houses and I helped. We cleaned tutors’ homes in exchange for SAT prep. Growing up between The Bronx and Yorktown deeply shaped my views of inequality and it’s a big reason I believe the things I do today!”
However, this week’s response wasn’t enough for New Yorkers who were disgusted by her cynical attempt to rewrite history. A retired New York firefighter reacted, “You can tell right out of the gate she isn’t from the Bronx. Listen to her! Listen to us! We’ve been out of the Bronx for years but we still sound like idiots! It doesn’t just go away. She doesn’t have that in the way she talks.”
Similarly, another New Yorker, Sandra Guarriello, replied, “I don’t get why you wouldn’t want to say you’re from here. We dreamed of living here. It took us a long time and a lot of hard work and now we live here. It’s been our dream to live here.”

In his initial post to Truth Social, which prompted AOC to embarrass herself, Trump expertly took aim at the far-left Democrat. He joked, “Stupid AOC, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of the ‘dumbest’ people in Congress, is now calling for my Impeachment, despite the fact that the Crooked and Corrupt Democrats have already done that twice before.”
Concluding his epic rebuke, Trump said, “She better start worrying about her own Primary, before she thinks about beating our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, whose career is definitely on very thin ice! She and her Democrat friends have just hit the Lowest Poll Numbers in Congressional History, so go ahead and try Impeaching me, again, MAKE MY DAY!”
