Country artist Austin Moody has been lighting up Nashville recently with his new hit single “I’m Just Sayin.” The song has found itself sitting at the number four spot on the iTunes country music charts alongside some of the biggest names in the genre, including Jason Aldean, Luke Combs, and Morgan Wallen.
The song has garnered praise from conservatives for calling out some of the decaying aspects of the modern-day United States while idealizing the seemingly forgotten features of America that used to make it great. For example, Moody has called out the lack of law enforcement, leading to crime-ridden cities and woke universities indoctrinating the youth.
Moody recently gave credit for his success to his fans. “It’s completely fan-driven,” Moody told Breitbart News. “How this thing gets to number one is people going to iTunes and paying the 99 cents for it. I think we’ve got a good chance of getting there.”
However, the rising country star has also acknowledged the target he has put on his back for taking such a politically conservative stance in his song. Of course, he would more than likely be praised by the woke establishment entertainment industry if he took a far-left stance in his music. It is brave of the new artist to stare down the barrel of cancel culture, especially as a new, up-and-coming artist.
Moody also claimed that many country singers in Nashville share the same political views and opinions but refrain from voicing them over fear of losing their careers. “There are a lot of patriots in Nashville who can’t say anything because they’ll lose their [record] deal, their support. It’s pretty scary,” he said, highlighting the problem of cancel culture in country music. The “I’m Just Sayin” star also appeared on NewsMax, where he emphasized his song’s “fan-driven” success and discussed his motivations for writing the hit. See the recent interview below.
During the interview, Moody stated how the unprecedented success of his new “woke-bashing” anthem was a positive sign that there is still some semblance of a moral compass remaining in America. “I can’t believe this song is doing so well and just proves to me that there’s a still a strong moral compass in this country,” he said.
The singer then discussed the rapid rise to the top of the charts “I’m Just Sayin” has seen. At the time of the NewsMax interview, it was ranked number six, but since it has jumped up another two spots. More impressively, Moody talks about how hundreds of other artists on the country music charts are signed to big music labels.
Moody released the song himself on his own independent label “with really no team behind it,” making it mostly “fan-driven.” He also credits a few articles Breitbart wrote about the song for helping it build momentum. “My friends over at Breitbart did a few articles and that’s really the reason I think this thing is blowing up and everybody’s picking up on it now,” he said.
The artist and father also discussed how the birth of his daughter was a driving force behind his decision to take a stand against liberal politics in the song. Moody said he used to stay away from politics but realized he didn’t want his daughter to grow up in a liberal-run society.
