Anti-Trump Singer Neil Young Reportedly “Depressed,” Working on Anti-Trump Protest Album

Legendary rocker Neil Young is feeling “sad” and “depressed” by all of the news coming out daily under President Donald Trump, believing his feelings are calling him to put out a brand new anti-Trump album to get all his emotions out about what he called “the worst president in the history of our country.” Young, who has only been an American citizen since 2020 and originally hails from Canada, only decided to get his citizenship in order to vote against the president.

“Folks, I am so hurt for this country,” Young stated in a post on his website. “Politics today is sad and depressing for me. I can’t do it anymore. I can go out and demonstrate my feelings about it. We have the worst president in the history of our country. Every day a bad TV show produced by DJT is what we get.” He then added, “Now, thankfully, once again, I’m in the studio recording a new album with the Chrome Hearts.”

“I love the songs and the feelings of life and love. Music is. So far we have eight new songs. They make me feel,” the “Rockin’ in the Free World” singer said. Young has been going on rants about President Trump ever since he announced his first bid for the White House in 2015. One such occasion happened in January 2026.

Young demanded that Americans “rise up” to fight back against Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which he claimed was “destroying America,” ignoring the fact that most of what ICE is doing on a daily basis has no lasting impact on the lives of citizens. According to Breitbart News, Young wrote, “Wake up people! Today the USA is a disaster.”

The singer also tried to lash out at President Trump by giving his music catalog to Greenland, declaring his actions publicly as a response to the pressure being applied to the country by Trump to work with the U.S. in order to prevent it from threats on the geopolitical stage. However, while Young claimed to want people to resist peacefully, in May 2025 he suggested that the president would be assassinated by adding the “86/47” tag to one of his rants.

Young, along with the Chrome Hearts, toured all over North America last summer but strangely didn’t play many songs from their album Talkin’ to the Trees, which was released the same year. Instead, they blasted a number of anti-Trump songs, including “Big Crime,” which the group wrote while out on the road, according to Rolling Stone.

A tour of Europe, which was originally scheduled to kick off in June in Manchester, England, ending on July 16 in Codroipo, Italy, was canceled in February. “I have decided to take a break and will not be touring Europe this time,” he told fans in a post on his website. “Thanks to everyone who bought tickets. I’m sorry to let you down, but this is not the time. I do love playing LIVE and being with you and the Chrome Hearts. LOVE Neil be well.”
