Anti-Trump Music Legend Smokey Robinson Hit with New Investigation

Amongst the many woke entertainers who have been attacking President Donald Trump ever since he came down the golden escalator in 2015, and who have been doing so with a renewed vigor over 2024 and 2025, R&B songwriter and artist Smokey Robinson has been one of the loudest voices. He is also now under investigation regarding allegations of sexual assault he allegedly committed.

As background, Robinson has, amongst his many other anti-Trump moves, appeared in an ad for former Vice President Kamala Harris. Such is what he did in 2024, during the presidential race, saying, in that ad, “I really don’t understand how any person of color, or any woman, could find it in their hearts to vote for Donald Trump.”

Now, however, it is Robinson who is in the spotlight in a bad way, as officials in the Los Angeles area have confirmed the opening of an investigation into him, with a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department saying that the probe into Robinson’s conduct is still in its “early stages”.

Such is what the department confirmed on Thursday, May 15, telling the media that it is “actively investigating criminal allegations” against Smokey Robinson. It added, speaking to ABC affiliate KABC, “The investigation is in the early stages, and we have no further comment.”

The investigation comes in the wake of a lawsuit brought a week prior to the department’s statement. In the suit, four of Robinson’s former housekeepers alleged that he had repeatedly sexually assaulted them during the time period in which they worked for him, a claim the anti-Trump actor denies.

Descriving the reason for the suit and police report, the attorney for the four women, John Harris, said during a news conference he held around the time the lawsuit against Smokey Robinson was filed, “We believe that Mr. Robinson is a serial and sick rapist, and must be stopped.”

Robinson’s attorney, Christopher Frost, fired back against the situation in a statement released on the same Thursday. In it, Frost first claimed to be confused about what was happening, saying, “We are aware that a police report has now been filed by the Plaintiffs in the civil lawsuit. It is clear to us what is happening here.”

Continuing, Frost insisted that the police were only getting involved because they had to, noting the size of the lawsuit in a clear attempt to downplay its seriousness and validity. He said, “Plaintiffs filed a police report only after they filed a $50 million lawsuit. This means only that the police are now required to investigate.”

Building on that, Frost insisted that the alleged victims need to out themselves to the public so that the truth about the situation can be exposed, “We welcome that investigation, which involves Plaintiffs who continue to hide their identities, because exposure to the truth is a powerful thing.”

Concluding, Frost reiterated the claim that his client did nothing wrong, saying, “We feel confident that a determination will be made that Mr. Robinson did nothing wrong, and that this is a desperate attempt to prejudice public opinion and make even more of a media circus than the Plaintiffs were previously able to create.”
