Texas Governor Greg Abbott pulled no punches when firing back at far-left Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) over some awful comments she made about his disability and need for a wheelchair when speaking at a non-profit dinner, saying that the woke representative exemplifies the sort of mess the Democrats are finding themselves in as they flail about trying to find a message that counters Trump’s success.
As background, Gov. Abbott has been wheelchair-bound ever since, in 1984, an oak tree fell on him while he was jogging, leaving him paralyzed at just 26 years old. It was that condition, one that Gov. Abbott nearly never brings up, that Rep. Crockett mocked in abominable fashion when speaking at the Human Rights Campaign dinner in Los Angeles on Saturday, March 22nd.
In her comments, Rep. Crockett first commented on the heat in Texas and then launched into a diatribe about Gov. Abbott. She first said, “We in these hot-ass Texas streets, honey!” That’s when she mocked his use of a wheelchair, saying, “Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there, Come on now!” She concluded by saying, “And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot ass mess, honey.”
Firing back on Tuesday, March 25, during an appearance on FNC’s “Hannity” with eponymous host Sean Hannity, Gov. Abbott hammered Crockett and her party, saying that her opened mouth meant yet another disaster for her joke of a party. As he put it, “It’s another day and another disaster by the Democrats. The reality is they have no vision, no policy.”
Continuing, the governor added that Americans are tired of the same Democratic message of hate, saying, “They have nothing to sell but hate, and Americans are not buying it.” He added that such abominable comments from top Democrats like Crockett are why Texas is remaining a firmly Republican state, saying, “It’s one reason why Texas is going to remain red.”
The governor also noted that his leadership has made Texas a great environment to do business in, saying, “Texas ranks number one for the most new economic development projects for 13 years in a row. CEOs who run businesses have ranked Texas the best state for doing business for 20 years in a row.” Watch him here:

Crockett tried to defend her comments in a series of posts on X, claiming that she was referring to his use of vehicles to deport illegal immigrants, an absurd assertion. She wrote, “I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition—I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable.”
Continuing, she pretended that insulting his policies hadn’t also meant she insulted his disability, saying, “Literally, the next line I said was that he was a “Hot A** Mess,” referencing his terrible policies. At no point did I mention or allude to his condition. So, I’m even more appalled that the very people who unequivocally support Trump—a man known for racially insensitive nicknames and mocking those with disabilities—are now outraged.”
Concluding, in a second post that was a comment on the first, she wrote, “Keep that same energy for all people, not just your political adversaries. Finally, this is yet another distraction. Instead of obsessing over and hanging on to my every word, maybe my political foes should focus on doing the work of the people who elected us to improve their lives.”
