Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green recently introduced a measure to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib over Tlaib’s conduct following the bloody Hamas attacks on Israel. Explaining the reasons for her resolution in a different post on X, Rep. MTG said, “BREAKING NEWS: I just introduced my resolution to censure Rashida Tlaib as privileged to force a House vote in two legislative days. Tlaib led a pro-Hamas insurrection into the Capitol complex, has repeatedly displayed her anti-Semitic beliefs, and shown her hatred for Israel. She must be held accountable and censured.”
Rep. Greene later explained that move a good bit more, telling Breitbart in an interview that she thinks the pro-Hamas movement is something she “would call a terrorist movement” and that Rep. Tlaib’s protest inside the Capitol was an “insurrection.”
“The one I have my eyes on right now is the free Palestine, pro-Palestinian, pro-Hamas movement, which is turning into what I would call a terrorist movement within our own lands here in our country,” Rep. Greene said. She then added that she saw that movement “do an insurrection on our Capitol Complex just two weeks ago that Rashida Tlaib led.”
Continuing, Rep. Greene warned about the potential for excalatory violence from that movement, saying, “Now they’re starting to attack people individually, and, you know, they’re rising, and this is the real danger. It’s going to be bigger than BLM, I think, going in throughout this next year.”
Blaming Tlaib and others for the movement, she said, “And that’s because I’m far ahead of them in the knowledge that I have on the groups that Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, Cori Bush, many progressives are embedded with, but mostly Rashida Tlaib herself. Who she is financed by, who does the fundraising for her, people that donate to her across the country.”
She then claimed, “These people, they’re pro-Palestinian, but to be pro-Palestinian is pro-Hamas. And that is really the truth. And there’s people, unfortunately, that are uncomfortable with saying that. I have no discomfort in saying that whatsoever because I know exactly who these people are and their links with, you know, radical communist, Islamic activists like Linda Sarsour and many others.”
Returning to the “insurrection” claim, Greene said, “I hope a lot of your listeners call in to my Republican colleagues and tell them they better vote for this resolution to censure Rashida Tlaib because they are, they’re sorely undereducated on who this woman is if they don’t vote for this. It definitely was an insurrection. It was organized and led.”
She then added, further explaining her use of it, “These people came in our office buildings, they pushed through security, they refused to leave, they went in and interrupted a Senate hearing. They were going throughout all of our office buildings in the Capitol complex, and they broke the same federal law that January 6 defendants are being absolutely persecuted by Biden’s DOJ for.”
Tlaib, for her part, raged over the censure resolution in a statement posted to X, saying, “Marjorie Taylor Greene’s unhinged resolution is deeply Islamophobic and attacks peaceful Jewish anti-war advocates. I am proud to stand in solidarity with Jewish peace advocates calling for a ceasefire and an end to the violence. I will not be bullied, I will not be dehumanized, and I will not be silenced. I will continue to call for ceasefire, for the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid, for the release of hostages and those arbitrarily detained, and for every American to be brought home.”
Continuing, Tlaib vowed to continue supporting the Palestinians, saying, “I will continue to work for a just and lasting peace that upholds the human rights and dignity of all people, and ensures that no person, no child has to suffer or live in fear of violence.“
