Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced a massive breakthrough in the fight for election integrity. The Texas Republican described how he arrested six Frio County officials for vote harvesting and election fraud in an “elaborate scheme” that targeted seniors.
For context, conservatives have long raised concerns about the integrity of elections, specifically concerning vote harvesting in blue cities. Critics cite the numerous cases where Democratic officials have been arrested and charged with election fraud to bolster their case.
In any case, the Texas AG’s office stated on May 7, 2025. The document began, “Attorney General Ken Paxton announced the indictments and arrests of six people, including several public officials, for election crimes related to a vote harvesting scheme in Frio County.”
Addressing the controversy, Paxton promised to protect our elections. He stated, “The people of Texas deserve fair and honest elections, not backroom deals and political insiders rigging the system. Elected officials who think they can cheat to stay in power will be held accountable. No one is above the law,” adding, “My office will continue to work with Frio County District Attorney Audrey Louis to protect the integrity of our elections.”
Continuing, the document laid out the charges for the alleged fraudsters. The press release declared, “In August 2024, Attorney General Paxton’s Criminal Investigation Division executed multiple search warrants in Frio, Atascosa, and Bexar Counties as part of a multi-year election integrity investigation into credible allegations of vote harvesting.”
Still not done chornoicle the scope of the “elaborate scheme”, the document stated, “On May 1, 2025, Frio County District Attorney Audrey Louis and the Election Integrity Unit of the Office of the Attorney General presented a criminal vote harvesting case to a grand jury in Frio County. The grand jury returned true bills for the following indictments:”
Listing out the alleged criminals, the press release recounted, “Frio County Judge, Rochelle Camacho: 3 counts of Vote Harvesting. Former Frio County Elections Administrator, Carlos Segura: 1 count of Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence. Pearsall City Council, Ramiro Trevino: 1 count of Vote Harvesting”

Each suspect was arrested on May 2, 2025, with the exception of Rochelle Camacho, who will be processed at a later date.” After the list of suspects concluded, the letter explained, “Attorney General Paxton’s Election Integrity Unit continues to investigate the case along with the Frio County DA.”
Breaking the news on X, AG Paxton posted, “BREAKING: I’m announcing six indictments and arrests in Frio County for an illegal vote harvesting scheme. The people of Texas deserve fair and honest elections, not backroom deals and political insiders rigging the system.”
In the comments under his post, conservatives praised Paxton for his contribution to election integrity. One user said, “We need a fearless, resilient leader as U.S. Attorney General. Pam Bondi lacks the psychological strength for the role. This job demands unshakable resolve and the ability to face deep corruption head-on. We Need YOU!!”
Rounding out the comments, other users said, “Great work. We need to root out these schemes before they become big enough to change the outcome of an election and disenfranchise our Texas voters. Great! Keep them coming.. Harris County is probably about the most corrupt!”
