A group of four Republicans decided to join forces with Democrats to reject the SAVE America Act that was part of budget reconciliation, once again pushing off election integrity during a critically important midterm election cycle that will determine whether Republicans can retain control of Congress and continue to implement President Donald Trump’s America First agenda.
The four Republicans — a list of names that won’t shock anyone who keeps up with the sabotage perpetrated by Republicans In Name Only — are Sens. Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Mitch McConnell, and Thom Tillis. All of them voted against requiring voter ID and proof of citizenship across the country. Meanwhile, at the time this betrayal occurred, American voters were getting a good look at what compromised elections look like thanks to California.
During the California primary races, the state allowed mail-in ballots to be accepted for a whole week after the actual election date and then took their sweet time tallying the results. The RINO quartet continues to be a thorn in President Trump’s side, coming together time and time again to prevent the agenda that voters overwhelmingly supported when they voted for him in the 2024 election.
“It’s the second attempt by Republicans to attach the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act to their budget reconciliation package, and the second time that they’ve failed to get the legislation across the line months after launching a quasi-floor takeover to debate the bill,” Fox News went on to say of the vote.
According to a report from BizPacReview, an argument was made some time back that attaching the SAVE America Act to the $70 billion budget reconciliation package, which was mostly centered around providing funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol, was just a gimmick due to needing at least 60 votes to pass the Senate.
“There’s no other reason to say you don’t have to have an ID. It just makes cheating easier,” the now-deceased Sen. Lindsey Graham said at the time, knowing the bill stood no chance of actually passing. “Who wants a noncitizen voting in our election if you’re against that, that makes me wonder.” This has led to calls for the quartet to be voted out of office.
Both McConnell and Tillis have opted not to run for re-election, so that is a given. The other two RINOs are deeply entrenched in the seats they occupy. Collins has served in office for almost three decades, while Murkowski has held on to her position for 23 years. Republican voters rejected Murkowski in 2010 by not supporting her during the primary.

However, she then launched an independent write-in campaign for the general election with the full backing of the Republican Party. The BPR report noted that it seems as if some members of the GOP are actively trying to lose the 2026 midterm elections, which could result in another impeachment of President Trump. If Democrats have control of the Senate, the impeachment could succeed in removing him from office.
