University of Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines, who tied transgendered swimmer Lia Thomas in the women’s 200-meter freestyle event at the NCAA championships, has been a vocal advocate for actual women in women’s sports since the end of her collegiate career.
Gaines, along with countless other females, fell victim to the radical transgender agenda in women’s sports. So many females have trained and sacrificed most of their lives to become elite in their sport, only to have biological men swoop in and take the glory. Now, Gaines is a vocal advocate for women’s sports. Recently, speaking at a Turning Point USA event, she had this to say: “What we’re being asked to do is to deny objective truth. It’s to deny the sky is blue, is to say that men and women are the same,”
Gaines is, of course, correct. Anyone with a functioning brain and the willingness to admit the truth knows that men and women aren’t physically equal, and testosterone isn’t going to change that. Sadly, too few have the courage to admit the truth for fear of retribution from the far left and cancel culture mob. Not Gaines. She went on to say this: “We’re equal, but we’re not the same … I feel like we’re in this battle of really spiritual warfare. It’s no longer good or bad or right or wrong. This is like moral versus evil.”

Gaines has come up against critics trying to silence her, but just like in the pool, she is a fierce competitor and refuses to be shouted down. Pennsylvania Rep. La’Tasha Mayes recently gave a speech calling for Gaines to be excluded from speaking at the University of Pittsburgh. Gaines had this to say in response:
“Someone who is supposed to uphold the law and the Constitution and what America was founded on — which is freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to protest, freedom to organize all of the amazing freedoms that we have in this country — someone who’s supposed to uphold those presented on why I should not be able to use my voice and why it’s so important that I use my voice. That’s terrifying.”
Gaines speaks to the unfair playing field when pitting biological men against women and takes to task the Biden administration. The Biden White House interpreted Title IX in a manner specifically to ban discrimination based on gender identity rather than the protection of women’s sports that it was intended to be:
“I’m not saying that every trans individual transitions to win trophies or to get in women’s bathrooms or to get in women’s prisons. I’m not saying that for every trans individual. But do we not see how the system we have in place, people will take advantage of that system?” “We know that we live in a country where there are very deluded people … People will take advantage of the system that we have in place, that the only requirement to be a woman is to say you are a woman.”
“If you believe in science, you know there is man and woman. To deny that is to deny science, it’s to deny logic, it’s to deny reason and, quite frankly, common sense.”
Riley Gaines is one of the few brave women who refuse to be silenced, despite the left’s efforts. She continues to be a voice of common sense in a space where common sense is sorely lacking. Hopefully, more people will pay attention to her common-sense message, and integrity can be restored to women’s sports.
