Jude Moore, a young man who was a promising, up-and-coming British boxer and two-time British national amateur champion, was found dead on Friday. He was just 19 years old at the time of his death.
The young fighter, before his passing, was believed to be a potential world boxing champion. The BBC reported that his tragic death came shortly after his impressive knockout over the Polish national champion in his first senior fight, a knockout win.
Mooreβs trainer, Craig Turner, described his fallen fighter in a statement, saying,Β “There’s nothing that any of us really did to develop that talent. It was just his flair, his uniqueness, his personality. There was only one, there could only ever be one and it’s just a shame that we will never see him fulfil his potential.”
Adding to that, Mr. Turner also said that Jude was a leader that others looked up to and someone who grasped the entertainment nature of the boxing business, saying:
“Everybody looked up to him. He could just effortlessly mix amongst all cultures all classes. He just loved to talk. You just couldn’t stop him. He was an entertainer and boxing is an entertainment business. That’s why I am sure he would have gone on and won a world title. He just loved to be around people and he hurt very easily. He thought everybody was his friend. He was just immaculate. Along with (former IBF bantamweight) Lee Haskins and (former World Champion in the super middleweight) Glenn Catley, Bristol had another world champion (in Jude). There was going to be no doubt at all.”

A GoFundMe fundraiser was created by Jude’s coaches to help support his parents and siblings. It reads:
Jude was a highly talented, supremely fit 19 year old boxer who was tragically taken from us on 17 March 2023. His parents, Mark and Carla, and brothers, Ethan and Beau, currently have no answers as to what happened to this larger-than life character. Whilst nothing anyone can say or do can lessen the sense of loss they and everyone who knew Jude feels, we can show them our love and support with a donation towards the cost of the funeral that should never have to be. RIP Jude Moore – once met, never forgotten.
Your donations will be forwarded to the Downend Boxing Club account then onto Jude’s parents. We are raising funds as Jude’s coaches, friends and people who love him.
Jude was interviewed by BBC Radio Bristol in 2018 when he was 14. During that interview with BBC Radio Bristol, he said: “No matter what, my heart will always be in this sport.”
And it wasn’t just his coaches and family that lamented his passing. British Middleweight Champion Nick Blackwell paid tribute to Moore as well in a tweet, saying: “So sad for Boxing this young talent has passed away… Jude Moore just 19 years old.. devastating for his family, sudden death, no warning, fit athlete. RIP Jude.”
