There is no good way to frame the 2026 midterms. They were a disaster for Republicans, and America is going to be in a much worse place come January as a result of how they want. President Trump appears to have learned at least something of a lesson, however, as he took to Truth Social not to back off of his policies but to vow defiance and point out how the “moderate” RINOs cost the GOP much of its advantage.
Such is what he did regarding Gov. Greg Abbott, for example, arguing that the Texas Governor went from being quite good to something of a RINO, and that pointless, ridiculous reversal cost Republicans the advantage that they might have had in what used to be a reliably red state, but has been trending toward becoming blue for some time.
In that post about Abbott’s stunning defeat in the gubernatorial race, the President angrily wrote, “If Greg Abbott, the Governor of Texas, hadn’t become a RINO in the last six months of his Political Life, he wouldn’t have lost. He went back to his original formula, and it wasn’t pretty!”
He followed it up with a post indicating he thinks the same is true of many of the candidates who lost races they probably should have won, saying, “I’m going to become a Political Pundit, both good and bad, on the reasons these Candidates won and lost!” He added, in another post, “I wasn’t on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
Most of President Trump’s fire, however, was reserved for Fox News, which he views as having been in large part responsible for how the elections went. In one post on the matter, for example, the president said, “Why does FoxNews have Bill de Blasio, the Worst Mayor in the History of New York City, on air, ranting and raving like a Lunatic? He left the City in disgrace, and the damage he caused was incalculable — It has never been the same, and now he’s telling us how to run America.”
He added, pointing the finger squarely at Fox News and its ridiculous tendency to bring on Democrats time and time again to give them a “fair hearing” in front of its viewers, rather than working to get conservatives elected, “FoxNews bears responsibility for these losses by constantly and consistently putting on the Dumocrat opposition, and worse. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
He had attacked Fox News earlier in the night as well, calling it out for depressing conservatives with fake polling about him and donating to Democrats. He began, “FoxNews Ratings are way down (27%!) because they’re spending too much time covering the Trump Deranged Dumocrats! All of those people who used to watch Fox, and no longer do, get it. It’s them, not me — My numbers are better than they have ever been. The new CNN Poll stated that “TRUMP” is at 99% among Republicans and, among Republican Presidents, “TRUMP” is at 53%, compared to Ronald Reagan at 18%, and Abraham Lincoln at 8%! Fox knows this, and so does everyone else!”

He added, “Also, why is Fox Corp. spending so much money donating to the Worst of the Worst, including Hakeem Jeffries, Jamie Raskin, Ted Lieu, Pete Aguilar, the California Dumocratic Party, the Dumocratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the Dumocratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, the Congressional Black Caucus PAC, the CHC Bold PAC, and the New Dumocrat Coalition Action Fund, among others? No wonder FoxNews Ratings are collapsing, and they’re going to go down a lot further. They’re way down, not because of me, but because they are AGAINST me! This happened once before, and Fox almost collapsed. It’s happening again!”
