As the James Bond franchise continues to move toward a reboot, which it has undergone numerous times since it started many decades ago, the casting of the lead isn’t the only character people are having a blast speculating about. Everyone is debating who should play the next Bond girl, the secret agent’s love interest in the new film. One name keeps coming up, much to the chagrin of liberals everywhere: Sydney Sweeney.
In fact, former Bond girl Trina Parks thinks the Euphoria actress would be “wonderful” in the iconic role. Keep in mind that almost every single James Bond film has featured a new love interest for the legendary spy, so the part is considered a true career maker for the actress who lands the part. Nothing says, “I’ve arrived” like being a Bond girl.
“She has done quite a range of acting things and basically has got ownership of her sexual identity,” Parks, 79, said in an interview with the Telegraph. Parks stated that Sweeney, who is 29, is “not only a talented actress,” but also has “this Hollywood classic kind of style and poise, which really works for her projects and brand.” Many voices in the entertainment industry would agree with Parks’ assessment.
Parks knows what she’s talking about. The actress became the first black Bond girl when she landed the role opposite Sean Connery in 1971’s “Diamonds Are Forever.” She also told the Telegraph, according to a report from Page Six, that the Housemaid star would be a welcome addition to the popular spy franchise. “I feel for modern cinema and film-making and the future of Bond, audiences want to see a woman opposite Bond who is independent and has ownership of her sexuality,” Parks explained.
“Sydney has those qualities,” she said. Parks also spoke about the future of the franchise in July 2026, going on to suggest that maybe it’s time for Bond to put away his promiscuity and become monogamous. “Of course I would like them to keep the romance in, but perhaps not give him a multitude of partners,” she said in an interview with the Telegraph.
Parks added, “I don’t want the women to just fall into bed with him because he is good-looking. It should be a female who he has got to prove that he is worthy of being her bed partner.” The former love interest of 007 also urged those who are currently working on the franchise to make a movie that “reflects the modern world where women are stronger characters and hold powerful positions.”
While the Bond girl role has yet to be filled, Sweeney is in the running for the role along with The Substance star Margaret Qualley, and her co-star from Euphoria, Zendaya. Ursula Andress, Diana Rigg, Jane Seymour, Famke Janssen, Halle Berry, Denise Richards, Lea Seydoux and Ana de Armas are just a few of the actresses who have played Bond girls in previous films. The next 007 flick is set to be directed by Denis Villeneuve, who directed the Dune movies.
