President Donald Trump is well-known for his ability to completely obliterate the hostile news media that constantly goes out of the way to attack him on a daily basis and what he had to say to a male reporter who asked him why he canceled a weekend campaign in Kansas, telling the journalist he’s “way out of shape” and that he “looks like hell.”
President Trump, 80, was not happy with the suggestion that he was tired due to a grueling travel schedule to help give GOP candidates across the country a boost before the midterm elections on November 3. “Mr. President, you’ve been doing a lot of travel. We’ve been doing a lot of travel with you. How are you doing? How is your health?” the reporter asked after Air Force One landed in South Carolina.
“I think very good. I think you see that,” Trump told the reporter before adding “we had a great rally” and that “we’re going to have a strong Tuesday night.” When the reporter decided to press him further, Trump let loose with both proverbial barrels blazing. “So you’re not going to Kansas has nothing to do with you being sick of traveling?”
“You are a sick guy. Reuters is terrible, by the way,” the president sizzled. “Look at this guy. He’s way out of shape, look at how badly — he comes to me, ‘Sir, you’re not going to go to Kansas.’ I’m not going to Kansas because [Sen. Roger Marshall] is doing very well. I’m going to do a tele-rally. Tomorrow I’m doing Florida,” the president said, according to The New York Post.
“He said, ‘What’s the reason?’ After doing what, 28? He says, ‘What’s the reason for this, sir, that you’re not going to Kansas?’” the president continued the journalist’s dressing down. “You know what the reason is? I don’t feel I have to go to Kansas. I’m going to Florida tomorrow, and I’ll do [more] if something else comes up. But he said, ‘You’re not going to Kansas, sir. Are you feeling well?’
“You’ve been following me for two weeks. I feel perfect. You are disgusting. Put yourself in shape. You look like hell,” Trump said to the reporter. The White House Rapid Response team celebrated the president’s expert takedown of the reporter, Jacob Bogage, and tagged him in a post about it on social media platform X.
A White House official told the Post in response to why the president canceled his trip to Kansas that he “will continue connecting directly with Americans nationwide through more than 20 tele-rallies before Election Day.” Humorously, Trump has made comments on several occasions about Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) having a rather muscular posterior. The comments, of course, were jokes, but the media often ignores that side of the president.

Trump has had a number of battles with reporters, such as CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins, whom he has slammed for not smiling enough during many battles the two have shared over the years he’s been in the White House. He’s also referred to several reports as being ugly both “inside and out” since coming back to the Oval Office in 2025.
